Most of the time I have detol hand soap in my bathrooms but if I know someone is visiting my home I get out the posh L'Occitane matching soap and moisturiser stuff I recieved for Christmas a few years back. Surely people notice it's always the same amount of fullness each time they visit? Plus who has enough time to moisturise their hands every time they wash them with a toddler in the house. Jesus if Im more than 15 seconds having a wee he'll be banging the door down wanting to come in or he will have jammed quavers in the xbox. There's no time for the luxury of hand moistorusing. Plus it's a bugger keeping a grip on his squirmy hands St the best of times let alone adding lubrication into the mix.

When my guests leave, back it goes under the sink so as not to waste it.

I also like the fruit bowl to be bursting with beautiful fruit. We always have bananas and satsumas but for some reason a pineapple just makes my mundane life feel that little bit more exotic. "Ooh look at wiggles84 she must peel her pineapple fresh each morning for her delightful childs breakfast". No a quick bit of toast and a banana and we're off to start our days. No one's got time for that surely?

None of us even like pineapple Shock

I know, I know I shouldn't care what people think but what little things do you project to the world so as to not to appear the frazzled dog tired slutten you are?

Seriously??? how sad,..

Roversandrhodes · 07/10/2016 19:47

Seriously?
I pour bleach down the loo before they arrive and have a nice clean and tidy home.Special handwash and pineapples? Couldn't be bothered with the faff ,I'd just keep the fancy handwash out all time

absolutelynotfabulous · 07/10/2016 19:59

So glad I've found my people..

I've never heard of a stunt pineapple, but I'm guilty of stuntplastic lemons and stunt apples, fresh from the garden, dahling.

I have a stunt Waitrose placcy bag hanging casually on a hook, and a stunt naice tea towel by the fake washing up area, which is complete with fresh sponge, wooden tray thingy and that ecofriendly washing up liquid.

I spray some pledge around, open a cookbook on a stand, make tea in a teapot and use bone china cups, albeit Sainsbury's ones. They're acceptably naice.

Anyone use a butterdish? I lob some Lurpak in it, and fill a china cup with milk.

I've even made matching purple macarons to go with the cushions pity they tasted of sawdust.

And I'm soooo glad I'm not the only one to kick the kids' tat under the sofa and bring out the naice Brio train set and, of course, the wooden bricks. Mustn't forget to add in the Boden-clad child too even if it keeps itself clean for precisely two minutes.

absolutelynotfabulous · 07/10/2016 20:02

...and Dinner Jazz in the background to create that chillaxed ambience.

Oatsandraisens · 07/10/2016 20:02

I had a friend who used to leave her husbands payslip lying around and then 'subtly' look at it/nod towards it then leave the room. She'd even leave it on the night stand in the guest bedroom .

justkeepongoing · 07/10/2016 20:06

What about this for a stunt pineapple. Candle available at tkmaxx!

I have a stunt living room would love to introduce it as the drawing room to guests but DH would just laugh out loud

Mycraneisfixed · 07/10/2016 20:46

If it's short notice I grab all the random clothes, laundry, toys, crap that's lying round the house and dump it on my bed and shut my bedroom door.
As I usually forget about it I get a nasty surprise when I go to bed and have to decide what to do with it all. (I usually dump it on the floor.)

justkeepongoing · 07/10/2016 20:48

Oh I also have some stunt meringues. Homemade ones under a glass dome in my kitchen. They've been there since last December so will now be inedible but makes me look like Nigella!

cyberfairy · 07/10/2016 20:56

I have a stunt accordion. I bought it second hand as such a beautiful vintage piece of Italian design. Reckoned I could learn some simple pieces with help but found it far too hard so now accordion open in case in corner of room because it looks all nice and bohemian. So far, a friend's child has fallen into it and I was clearly more bothered about the accordion than the child and I have nearly broken my toe on the fucking thing.

KoalaDownUnder · 07/10/2016 20:57

Gowgirl pmsl Grin

Roversandrhodes · 07/10/2016 21:13

Stunt plastic bags for guests.wow, just wow.

Lentilsmama · 07/10/2016 21:53

'Ordinary' guests don't get any special naiceties, but when the vicar came to tea to discuss DD's christening, I totally brought the Wedgewood out.

ElspethFlashman · 07/10/2016 22:13

Oh yes, how could I forget the strategic spray of Pledge into the air?

One time I actually had just been dusting miraculously and the whole kitchen smelt like Pledge. My friend commented on it so much that I felt like bloody Martha Stewart.

CasanovaFrankenstein · 07/10/2016 22:17

Emergency hoovering.

I have a light up colour change pineapple, does that count?

3awesomestars · 07/10/2016 22:35

Seriously - people do this 😮

You have me thinking now which of my friends could do this 😂

Me - nothing, I've never even considered this as a thing, might have a quick tidy up but I'm always pretty tidy anyway.

ToastMakesMeHappy · 07/10/2016 22:46

I've just remembered I have a stunt chopping board perched in the kitchen, it's a cute wooden heart shaped one. It doesn't get used just looks pretty. Plastic chopping board is in a cupboard out of sight

FoxSake · 07/10/2016 23:00

Ooh had to come out of lurking for this. For the record I stage for myself too as in when I've done a proper tidy and will have sometime in the house maybe on a Sunday.

Staged bar cart, huge bowl of lemons and limes cans of San pellegrino triple
Sec etc, I get highly irritated when DH drinks the cans, he can't understand they aren't for drinking.

Big flat bowl of tangerines with the leaves on in the middle of the coffee table with candles. But then the dc eat them
And leave the peels all over the floor.

Fresh Lily's and foliage in the bathroom . I really do get carried away, I've been debating today whether DH will find me out if I buy Aesops hand wash and Room fragrance, I thought if I do I should have a party.Grin

I hide my washing baskets.

raspberrysuicide · 07/10/2016 23:02

The next time I go to someone's house and they have a pineapple in their fruit bowl I will pmsl.
I have a mad dash round hoovering and polishing before we have visitors. Once I was hoovering and the kids asked me who was coming over!

QuintessentialShadow · 07/10/2016 23:07

I dont put anything out.

But I remove my childrens teeth, which are usually found scattered around the bookshelves.

We have a teeth war raging in our house. Ds1 puts all the teeth in a small jug that Ds2 made in pottery class. Ds2 hates this and evicts the teeth onto a bookshelf.

Our house is tidy and clean, and I always have nice soaps and nice fresh towels. So I just need to remember to remove the teeth.

I will now buy pineapple and mango.

ElasticGirl · 07/10/2016 23:40

You all have far too much time on your hands clearly! Does anyone notice any of this stuff really?
