What is the correct etiquette please?

You need not quote directly from Debretts.

If I weren't in the queue for the soggy salmonella sarnies left in Tescos- I'd write a longer OP. Angry

Time to stop pussying around and show her you mean business!

Buy some live maggots from a reputable fishing store.

Buy some disposable gloves.

Wear glove and place maggots on, in and around her food. Take out an item of her food, such as a lettuce and place maggots on lettuce.

Slink away and get rid of glove in sanitary bin.

Await screams!

2016namechangecomingalong · 05/05/2016 07:57

I'd check all the office bins if I were you Grin you'll start finding mysterious things going missing from your desk...

Queenbean · 05/05/2016 07:57

That jam story is absolutely vile. Why are some people such absolute wankers

stopfaffing · 05/05/2016 08:00

Crumbs OP, when I read the title of the thread I wondered if it was me Grin.

Yesterday I threw down the loo someone's soup (in tupperware container) but only because it had been on the cabinet (not in fridge) since last Thursday and had now grown a white film on top, urgh.

I'm horrified at your colleague's selfish behaviour but you have allowed her to have free rein for so long now. I like the idea of a secret camera to catch her throwing other peoples' lunches out though Grin.

Incidentally, I did actually thrown a colleague's lunch out one day Blush. I bring soup in for lunch (in one of those microwave cups) but had gone home ill so didn't eat my soup and it was a Friday. On the Monday I came in to work, went straight to the fridge with the intention of throwing my Friday soup in the toilet because it would have gone off. I opened the fridge, grabbed the cup, went to the disabled look, flushed the soup away (while thinking "hmm it is a funny pink colour for lentil), then started work.

That afternoon I read a message on our communal whiteboard "who stole my lunch - no soup!" OMG Shock. I went to see colleague and grovelled appropriately my apologies. She was fine about it and thought it funny. I went back to the fridge and found my soup cup right at the back of the fridge.

Next morning I brought her a fancy tin of soup in a fancy bag Grin.

Waiting with bated breath for your update [tongue hanging out emoticon].

This is so annoying to read. I hate when people get away with stuff just cos the manager is weak.
One woman in our office never answers the phone and pretty much comes and goes as she pleases which is extra annoying when I was picked up for taking time off on the day my dd started reception as I was on duty (answering phones)

WannaBe · 05/05/2016 08:06

It never ceases to amaze me how there is always one person in the office who no-one will stand up to even though that person is usually also universally disliked by all those same people who won't stand up to them. And they are usually also completely incompetant at their job...

MidniteScribbler · 05/05/2016 08:07

I'm just take everything out every morning and dump it on the floor, every day. And keep doing it. She can screech her little lungs out, but she is a fucking twit.

SlimCheesy · 05/05/2016 08:09

OP- I also wondered if our people were the same people...... FWIW, the office changed offices a few years ago and the mini-bar fridge did not get transferred....... so she does not have one now (AFAIK).

Tate15 · 05/05/2016 08:11

I just couldn't let this person 'win'!

MushroomMama · 05/05/2016 08:22

Honestly when she's next busy just fill up your bags and hide it all and then you don't have to do your food shopping this week Grin

PovertyPain · 05/05/2016 08:24

trips over ContessaDiPlump's place marker, lands in undignified heap, gets up, limps off, and stands peeping round corner.

SuperFlyHigh · 05/05/2016 08:27

I'd report her, ask Why? And then have a very serious discussion with HR etc about how you'd all like to store shopping there but also your lunch and suggest fridge bitch buys and stores her family's supplies for storage after lunch.

Could you buy another fridge?!

Even in 2nd to last office with the bully we shared fridge space and she'd get family dinner at lunch etc. We did occasionally use each other's butter etc but ended up sharing it moreorless. I also bought milk for the week (she rarely did) so I think she thought it best to keep on my best side.

Get management involved though. And do stapler in jelly! Grin

Looking forward to what happens today!

Buddahbelly · 05/05/2016 08:35

Im so glad im self employed and work from home after reading this.

When dp was doing his apprenticeship he was treated to the most horrid of bosses who worked with his son. On dp's 1st day he actually said to him, if you don't get along with my lad ill make your life a living hell, needles to say the son didn't take a liking to dp as he was going for the same apprenticeship position at the end of the term.

2 weeks before he was due to complete it they made him redundant, meaning he couldn't finish his apprenticeship and had nowhere to complete it so failed the course. He calmly walked into the kitchen to get his stuff out the fridge and saw the bosses lunch, he opened up his sandwich and rubbed it and wiped his arse with it, then sealed it back up in the clingfilm.

shufflestep · 05/05/2016 08:37

Waiting for today's updateSmile

KittyKrap · 05/05/2016 08:41

Dum Dee dumm.... waiting
Grin

OTheHugeManatee · 05/05/2016 08:45

Every time she puts her shopping in the fridge, take it out and leave it on the side. Get everyone else to help you. Make sure everyone denies it, too. No-one's seen anything. What shopping?

Give her a good gaslighting. Tell her she's being paranoid. Make sure everyone's in on it. I bet you she will stop bringing her shopping in after a week or two.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 05/05/2016 08:54

I think I'd have used her stuff to make my lunch too - but also offered it around to anyone else! since it's a communal fridge, you know, she could be said to be buying food for everyone, so everyone should have a chance to eat it... Grin

limitedperiodonly · 05/05/2016 08:55

As Manatee says, if you work together, you can easily defeat this person - you are many and she is one. Every office has one. It's really tiresome being the only person in the office willing stand up to them, with everyone else bleating: 'I don't like confrontation, but you're so good at it.'

BadDoGooder · 05/05/2016 08:55

I'm just......um....ah fuck it.....blatant place mark!

There's one in every fucking office.

I'm confrontational so I would have started ww3 by now, so you are all better people than me! evil genius vipers Grin

Goingtobeawesome · 05/05/2016 08:56

PovertyPain - I thought you'd put peeing around the corner..
