I can hear DH upstairs pretending to stomp around like a monster, and the kids are shrieking with joy...

...and I just got one of those, stop-and-smell-the-roses moments where you realise those sounds are a very temporary thing.

Some day they'll grow up and not find this kind of thing amusing anymore. And I won't be able to sit down here and happily listen.

Sniff, sniff.

I think I've had one too many glasses of Wine.

behind my DS is nearly 1 and I feel like I'm watching him change from a baby to a boy before my eyes right now.

Yesterday he wasn't feeling well so he slept in my arms for an hour. Bliss Smile

This is a lovely, lovely thread. Makes me look forward to what's to come.

MissMarplesBloomers · 30/05/2015 23:03

Another one with big babies now, (18 & 20 who let that happen?!)

The other day I got in from work to hear them shrieking with laughter, lying on DD's bed together, feet up the wall, watching silly animal videos on YouTube. Grin

They are both going through hard times individually, and it makes me so proud the way they are supporting each other!

God I'm a blubbering mess now !!

Shodan · 30/05/2015 23:06

Oh god, Dorothy.

I hadn't read yours when I posted mine.

I read it out to DH and nearly made it to the end without sniffling...

Throat's all a-hurtin' now.

Kewcumber · 30/05/2015 23:34

Now I'm snuffling...

This was DS when I first brought him home...

I can hear DH upstairs pretending to stomp around like a monster, and the kids are shrieking with joy...
Thenapoleonofcrime · 30/05/2015 23:34

Dorothy your post really started me crying properly, followed by my heart hurts then a little bit with love really finishing me off.

Love does hurt, but it's so so worth it.

More sniffing.

Doobydoo · 30/05/2015 23:36

Sparkling. My ds is 15. Sometimes he inclines his head and i get to kiss the top of it! Tis rare though!

Kewcumber · 30/05/2015 23:37

BehindEveryCloud · 30/05/2015 23:43

Awww Kewcumber! He's gorgeous.

There really should be a crying face emoticon.

hideandseekpig · 30/05/2015 23:43

I love it when little ones lean their head on your shoulder like that. Bliss. Lovely photo Kew.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 30/05/2015 23:47

Lovely photo, kew

I just read this thread back now I'm in bed. Just so wonderful knowing that it really is all the lovely little moments that add up and make us rich.

Twinkie I'm sorry if I keep you up late watching the sweet videos of your DS. Your story about him and his grandad is just so wonderful...I'm sure your DS will cherish his memories of his grandad forever.

These stories make me realise how much more I should stop and savour these little things a bit more, so thank you for sharing them!!

I've got a photo on my camera of my two DDs last week cuddled up asleep in bed together, face to face, having spent the night in the same bed. So so gorgeous.

We've had my Mum providing free childcare visiting over half term and it's just a joy seeing her and DS (2) together, they have such fun together. I love half term, it's so nice having just a week with no pressure to go away, we've made good use of our EH membership, had 4(!) picnic lunches and a lovely day chilling in the garden last weekend when it was gorgeously hot. Bliss.

farmlass · 31/05/2015 00:05

Have a few moments stored up! They make me cry if I want to. Today ds home from uni carried sis around kitchen over his shoulder seems to be a ritual every time and rugby tackled brother to floor and sat on him.also managed to karate chop dh on cheek bone.very funny family moments . But those soft baby moments .chubby hands and little round tums - I am going to cry again!!!!

SilverNightFairy · 31/05/2015 00:17

My 16 yr old dd is currently snuggled up in bed next to watching TV. She lives with her dad and is usually out working or with her boyfriend. I am happy and content right now.

HirplesWithHaggis · 31/05/2015 00:20

I have the most beautiful pic of DS asleep on the sofa, with 2yo dgs asleep on him/in his arms as my background pic on my ipad. It makes me smile every time. The love and trust is just gorgeous.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 31/05/2015 07:36

farmlass you've made me realise that's what I need to do! "Store them up" in my memory so when they're older I can look back.

It sounds like you may have dgc in your future yet to come, so you can have little round tums and chubby fingers back in your life again? Flowers

Hirples I have one like that of DH and dd. V sweet photo. He says things to me too sometimes and I can hear him getting a little choked up...like "some day I'll be walking her down the aisle..."

ohtheholidays · 31/05/2015 08:18

My DH is the same and it is really lovely to see and hear.

I honestly think it will be one of the strongest and most positive memories the children will have when they grow up.Smile

ohtheholidays · 31/05/2015 08:21

KEWCUMBER your little boy is absolutely gorgeous and it looks like he's a very big fan of his Mummy.Smile

MumofWombat · 31/05/2015 08:22

Hold those memories tight.

We lost our DC1 last year, he was 3 1/2 years old (he's the wombat in my nickname). One of the many, many lovely memories I have is when he came home from Kindy, ran up to his baby sister (who was eighteen months) hugged her, he said 'I love you' to her and then hugged her again. DH and I both dissolved in tears and it was the moment I knew I hadn't got parenting completely wrong.

KatieScarlettreregged · 31/05/2015 08:25

Kew, I swear my ovaries contracted over that picture of your adorable boy.
I'm another one with young adults
Today I am out with DD and my mum for a spot of lunch and shopping. Arranged by DD. When I think of how much she would rail against such an outing in her younger teens, this is amazing to me Grin
DS completed his 1st year Uni placement on Friday and got a written report from them which forms part of his grade. Was desperate to read it but he wasn't home as he went out to scan and send to his tutor. When he came in, he handed it to me and told me to keep it as he knew I would want to. I did have a tear as I read all about what a fine young man he was Grin
This is a lovely thread.
