Aibu over lady using my parking spaces.

We live in a housing estate and each house or flat has one or two spaces allocated to them. Most of the spaces are directly outside our houses except a few that are round the side that have garages. The spaces aren't numbered but everyone seems to know who's is whose. There's a new neighbour that has moved in next door to me (a corner house) and has a garage parking space round the back of her house, however she uses both my spaces as she parks in the middle of them. It's quite annoying when there's nowhere else to park as you have to park further down the road.

I went over today and introduced myself and poilitley told her the spaces were mine and hers was round the back but she was welcome to use our other space when we don't have guests but could she park to one side so I can fit my car next to hers. She looked at me with a blank expression, said no and shut the door on me! What do I do now!? I just stood there for a moment open mouthed and then went home.

Now I'm not sure if she has mobility problems as she's not exactly nimble anymore (about 65) but I am shocked at her one word reply!

Bub you need to read the original penguin bollards thread. It's in classics somewhere.

CurlyWurlyCake · 17/02/2015 15:20

The best thing to do Is invite her to join MN so we can gain her insight into the situation, perhaps pop a print outdof this thread through her door?

NeverShutsUp · 17/02/2015 15:24

DH away with work, DC ill and as such grumpy. But this thread has well and truly cheered! Love a good parking thread.

Seriously though this woman does sound like an arse (putting it politely), get it sorted and don't back down!

HermioneDanger · 17/02/2015 15:28

OP why don't you go round to her house, knock on the door and when she opens it swan in and help yourself to some stuff from her kitchen and sit on her sofa. When she asks you to move say "do I look like I give a shit" and then, if she ever calms down, point out that it's the same as her parking in your fucking parking spaces.

Joining in.

Place marking.

LlamaLove · 17/02/2015 15:33

Please just buy some Benguin bollards! Then film her reaction when she sees her lovely Ford Focus blocked in by Penguin Bollards and obviously load it up on here! Grin

*Penguin - no idea what Benguin is/are!!

fluffyraggies · 17/02/2015 15:35

Someone needs to go out and buy/beg/borrow/take from tip a few bits, awkward to lift, and keep them on these spaces while she's out. Your OP, and NARs. A big old plant pot right in the middle? Like i said before - an old bike from the tip laid on it's side across the middle? Just even the wheely rubbish bins?

I'm convinced she wont be arsed to get out of her car to move anything like that. I'll eat my hat if she does Grin

wheresthelight · 17/02/2015 15:40

hands round popcorn and Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine Wine and squishes onto the bench to wait.

glad this isn't a no parking zone Grin

SirChenjin · 17/02/2015 15:48

I could be wrong, but if you put anything in the space I would not be surprised if she just parked across the entrance of them just to make sure you're aware of how little amount of shit she doesn't give.

She's the type who will only stop when you get the authorities involved.

elfofftheshelf · 17/02/2015 15:54

OP if your Management Co are anything like ours I very much doubt they would have sent out an immediate letter. [blatant place holding]

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 17/02/2015 15:57

What about pimping up your parking spaces? Mini picket fence round them, roll out some astroturf, few gnomes, then sit out there on a deck chair at her usual coming home time.

mumof6needssanity · 17/02/2015 15:57

I cant believe she has parked in nar space again.

[ wants to know what was in the note ]

0ddsocks · 17/02/2015 16:04

At home with an ill 1 year old and 3 year old. I suspect if I google 'penguin bollards' this will help today be less depressing Smile

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 17/02/2015 16:07

I don't think there's anything polite I can say that will change her mind.

I'd probably say the same thing, but it beats me why on earth you should even dream of being polite to someone like that.
The visual I have of you taking the suggestion up thread and barging into her flat to sit on her sofa is keeping me highly amused Grin

Do this but make sure you park in HER parking space first.
Add cocktails for effect.

ShipwreckedAndComatose · 17/02/2015 16:12

Odd socks, do so at your own peril! They will follow you onto every website with pop up ads you visit!! It gets a little creepy after a while!!

Moreshabbythanchic · 17/02/2015 16:13

Parks bum, only taking one space, and waits for NAR to return home.

ScrambledSmegs · 17/02/2015 16:13

What you need is a big crowd of people to do this.

Loving this thread. Read a lot of it in the beginning and have just found it again! Lovely with a cuppa!

I would become the Worst Curtain Twitcher ever. I would be watching out the window 24/7, then when I saw her come into the road, I would run out and lie in my parking space. Grin

carrielou2007 · 17/02/2015 16:17

Our next door neighbours park on the massive 25 foot wide pavement infront of our houses (semi). When I bought the house, it was the showhome with 4 parking bays out front as well as garage and space around the back. I fell for the 'you get these 2 extra spaces' until if hit made into z massive pavement Hmm. When next door have visitors, they also park there and I asked please to not a) park on the pavement and b) not so close to my house. The next time they had visitors they parked so close I could not get my pram out and past them. I might have gotten s little bit shouty with them at that point...

Roussette · 17/02/2015 16:18

Scrambled yes yes yes! Let's all go to OP's road and move her car somewhere ridiculous! I'm up for it I really need to get a life
