I am male, mid 20's and grew up with this technology.
Wondering what something means?
Wondering how to do something?
Wondering how your kids did something?
Wondering if you should let your kids do something?

Html from scratch? Too right. There are some things a WYSIWYG just can't do.

my colleague deleted everything from a production AIX box. How we laughed. Mostly because he thought it was the prod box but had cocked it up and was actually on a test box.

They once let me run 'rm -fr *' as root as a birthday treat. It was such an anti-climax. It gets so far, and then runs out of steam, because it doesn't know what to do any more.

Copying over the production French clearing database was much more fun. People looked very panicky for a minute . Fortunately, I hadn't committed anything, so it was easy to rollback.

Please can people avoid breaking the internet at the moment, because I'm on-call this week, and I'd rather be sleeping than working overnight.

Thing is, < massive generalisation alert> the young people don't really know about computers. They know how to use Windows. And, please can you answer my question OP, regarding the Internet and the WWW?

People, remember that the OP might not be exactly what he says he is.
He could be a middle aged WI woman, with shaved legs, a pearl necklace and baking a cake right this minute.
Safety on the internet most and foremost.

PacificDogwood · 12/02/2015 23:06

Blacklight · 12/02/2015 23:07

@IfNotNowThenWhen

The internet is the hardware, the web is the content.
