Got to the point where an mnbot was suggested and zoomed to reply. I think this is a splendid idea. They aren't difficult to write, just time consuming to shove in all of the responses. Between lots of us we could really speed up the process.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeease can we make one?

First thing I would do is re-install windows from the disc. If it's a laptop though using an OEM disc will leave you without a license key. Google the make/model for a "restore" procedure as the license key [found on the cert of auth stuck to the bottom] will not work simply by typing it in. Beyond that as someone else said get a copy of Windows 7; or 8.1

Vista came preinstalled so no disc. It's a tower PC and a bit ancient. Vista was latest OS at the time! I have tried system restore and it is unable to complete the function Confused

I have downloaded a hooky copy of windows 7 from torrent and it now runs DSs touchscreen good apart from annoying 'activate now' screen but I think said hooky windows 7 will explode said ancient pc.

Frankly said pc is a pile of crap so I'm looking for a new one anyway.

OP - you are naive in the extreme to have even started this thread, and to claim ignorance of why you've been treated the way you have just points to your utter lack of qualifications to "help" anyone here.

Have you thought about windows 8.1? They've done a great job of cutting down it's footprint in terms of resources and space. imho at least.

I don't think there would've been stunned silence. I think the best you could hope for would be a polite refusal of your unbelievably rude and patronising kind offer because most people aren't as rude as you don't like confrontation
