  1. Have smeared the twins' cradle cap liberally with rapeseed oil, left, combed through, left Dentinox on in the bath for ten mins, rinsed through, and it all came off in big satisfying clumps. I got a bizarre amount of pleasure from this.
  1. I bit the bullet and got Plumbs round to reupholster my awkwardly shaped sofa and it's gorgeous! And the covers are just about less tricky to take on and off than a sleeping bag is to put back in its bag IYKWIM and they're machine washable. I, embarrassingly, may have punched the air. I need to get out more.
  1. Storing complete bedding sets inside one of the pillow cases has led to uncrumpled sheets and duvets that MATCH.
  1. Tomatoes out of the fridge are sweet and juicy.

I is DELIGHTED with the MN service. Please continue revolutionising my life Smile.

This thread has made my day! Gonna try some of these tips this week Grin

BonzoDooDah · 09/04/2014 13:05

BeCool ... Add 10 drops of essential oil ... Add three drops of dishwash ... no chemicals

Erm (trying not to be snotty sounding) ... dishwash is "chemicals" as are essential oils. Actually as is water, air, the plasic emulsifiers in the spray bottle leaching into the essential oils etc etc.
And essential oils can be quite harmful as they are super concentrated and are not sold/ intended for direct contact with skin (or inhalation) - unlike fabric conditioner (skin).

SarahThane · 09/04/2014 13:12

My offerings:

If your nails are stained rub them around in half a lemon - they come out clean. You can make lemon water first and use the left over lemon.

You can get bobbly bits off a jumper by shaving it gently.

Thank you for this thread!

BeCool · 09/04/2014 13:18

I hate the fragrance of clothes washing products - I only buy very low fragrance stuff. I don't know why people like the smell of the stuff and TO ME using fabric conditioner to scent your home is BONKERS. (Note users of MN are likely to be exposed to expressions of individuals OPINIONS).

Bonzo YY - everything in the whole wide world is chemicals. However to me half a ml of dishwash in 150mls is relatively chemical free compared to say a can of air freshener.

Throughthelongnight · 09/04/2014 13:22

When I make baked dishes like lasagne/shepherds pie etc I spray the oven dish with fry light first. This stops the baked on crust forming, and makes the dish so much easier to wash.

Gnomi · 09/04/2014 13:29

These are genius. Will be trying many of them.

Mine is: To clean a stainless steel cooker hood, use vegetable oil on a paper towel. It sounds counter-intuitive (using oil to clean that greasy stuff), but it totally works.

Polkadotpatty · 09/04/2014 14:25

Does anyone know how to clean the dust out of a modern radiator? Mine has a sort of grille over the top, and I can see fluff underneath but I can't get to it. Driving me disproportionately nuts. Is there a way to remove the grille, or a genius item to clean through it? Feel sure one of you will know!

deakymom · 09/04/2014 14:41

bookmarked!!

deakymom · 09/04/2014 14:43

my radiators have a grill on top im going to try my steam cleaner on them in a minute im pretty sure it will just blow the crap to where i can't see it but out of sight out of mind!

puffylovett · 09/04/2014 15:04

Any tips on how to get ground in stains from an acrylic bath? I've tried soaking in bleach / soda crystals / vinegar to no effect :(

peanutbutterandbanana · 09/04/2014 15:08

This thread is a JOY!

Here are mine: Never ever grease and line a cake tin again. Buy 'Cake Release' from Lakeland. Smear a small amount of it around your cake tin and pour your cake mixture over. Once cooked cake just slips out of the cake tin - MORE JOY!

A cooking one: Super Easy Microwave Summer Fruits Jam. Take 500g of any soft berry summer fruit and put into a large microwavable bowl with 500g of sugar. Microwave on high for 3 mins. Stir. Repeat. Then a final 3 mins in the microwave before pouring into a couple of 1lb jars which have been sterilised (so 9 mins in microwave in total). Put circle of waxed paper on top. Leave to cool then put lid on. No messy spatters of sugary fruity syrup on your hob.

Sangelina · 09/04/2014 15:33

Which page is the oven cleaning with a dishwasher tablet

Sangelina · 09/04/2014 15:33

.....on? I can't see it!!

Slackgardener · 09/04/2014 15:46

Oven door shines Smile aldi dishwasher tabs disintegrated but the Waitrose standard tabs held on to the bitter end.

evelynj · 09/04/2014 15:53

Sange-just put tab in little hot water to start disintegrating then rub the pasty tab over door-leave for an hour or so & clean off. I have 4 pages of this thread as. Have 100 posts per page, you may have different.

Oh, jus thought of one I do-line bottom of pots with broken up polystyrene for drainage-good so pots aren't too heavy & I think it maybe keeps the roots of plants a bit insulated. Anyway I've been doing it for years & all my pot plants thrive :)

SunnyRandall · 09/04/2014 16:09

BeCool did you mean to be so rude?

You like essential oils to fragrance your home. Fair enough.

Other posters like the scent of fabric conditioner. Also fine.

No need to get snippy.

themoneyone · 09/04/2014 16:13

Tips on how to remove coffee stains from stainless steel sink welcome here Grin

AmberLeaf · 09/04/2014 16:14

Hardboiled eggs 'Peel' them underwater in a saucepan/bowl. You will never find an errant bit of shell in your sarnies ever again, they also peel much easier.

Stained/rusty/burnt pan Boil, then simmer some water with a squidge of concentrated tomato paste in it. They will be like new.

A non housekeeping one; Lube Makes foreplay even more enjoyable Grin

AmberLeaf · 09/04/2014 16:15

themoneyone I have found CillitBang gets the most stubborn stains off a sink

Sangelina · 09/04/2014 16:19

I've tried many night cres over the years. None. Not a single one has made my skin feel so soft and plp in the morning as tesco nipple cream. Asda and boots weren't as good. Truly amazing.

BeCool · 09/04/2014 16:28

Sunny Did you mean to be so cliched? And snippy! Chill out - this is a MN great tips thread FFS!

So my opinion on spraying fabric conditioner around the home offends you? Frankly, that is for you to deal with, not me.

talktotheface · 09/04/2014 16:30

If you forget to shave your legs in the bath / shower you can dry shave using talc. Smells great too.

BeCool · 09/04/2014 16:30

AmberLeaf has just reminded me of a brilliant way to easily peel boiled eggs - you just give them a good spin and then the shell peels off very easily.

BeCool · 09/04/2014 16:32

Conditioner is brilliant to use when shaving legs/underarms and if you forget to moisturise afterwards it doesn't really matter.

stinkingbishop · 09/04/2014 16:43

I started a classic, yay, yay, yay Grin.

Does anyone know whether there's a way of printing out a whole thread? There is soooo much of genius on here that I want to have it in my special stinking drawer in the kitchen.
