Calling all overseas MNers - My lovely boy has written some letters

AllYouNeedIsAClickyBallpoint · 12/06/2012 19:34

He's 7, and is quite taken by stamps.
He's written several letters (I'll give you an example in a minute), and I wondered if there might be some MNers in foreign parts who might help him :)

Here is one of his letters ( in very best joined-up writing:))

Dear Jamaica

If I writ you a letter, please will you send me one back, so I can see your stamps.
I am from England (Great Britan)
Good luck in the Olympics
Love from Allyouneed Junior.

There are similar letters for several countries, and his plan is to put them in an envelope with the country name on the outside, and several stamps.

Would anyone be able to send him a letter with a stamp on?
Thank you. He would be the happiest boy in the world!

Do you just want something with a stamp on like a postcard or would you prefer a letter? Just trying to work out what's easier for my mum!

AllYouNeedIsAClickyBallpoint · 12/06/2012 21:01

Squirted, maybe it would be best if I came with you to the Bahamas :o

Cosmosis - I'm in Yorkshire too. Only bog standard stamps!

And thank you - writing to the British Embassies is a brilliant idea.

Just when I'm feeling jaded with MN and I find a thread like this..... Grin

AllYouNeedIsAClickyBallpoint · 12/06/2012 21:07

MrsHels - I think he'll be amazed and stunned to get anything at all :)
He's never been sent a letter before. I imagine he'll be overwhelmed, bless him :o

I'm in uk too but how abut posting on the Living Overseas board here? Am sure the lovely MNers who hang out there would help and they live all over!

Your boy sounds fab.

roguepixie · 12/06/2012 21:09

I am in the UK too but may have some overseas stamps - I used to collect them (when I was mini-rogue) and may well have some. Late FIL used to collect UK stamps but will check his collection too. Will PM you if I strike lucky.

Btw, don't think I have seen something that cute for ages. He sounds lovely. Grin.

Waedigirl · 12/06/2012 21:11

I'm in Switzerland. If you pm me his name and your address I'm sure I can find an obliging Milka cow who can write a postcard :)

BellaOfTheBalls · 12/06/2012 21:12

I'm in the UK but that is the most adorable thing. And all of those saying they'll help out. Thank you for restoring my faith in MN-ers and the world in general Grin

FourEyesGood · 12/06/2012 21:12

Please will you let me send you my old stamp collection? My mum brought it over when she had a clear-out a few years ago and I have no idea what to do with it! I doubt there's anything valuable in it but I used to spend hours on it when I was 8 or so. I've never used the PM thing before but will look out for one from you - let me know your address.
x

That is so lovely!! Can't help. I am a new MNetter but have become very addicted very quickly. This is my fave so far!!

laraeo · 12/06/2012 21:16

I'm in the US and would be happy to send him fun stamps. I just logged on to the US postal service website and they've just issued some Pixar stamps which might be fun.

PM me if you'd like.

showtunesgirl · 12/06/2012 21:17

Awwww. Super, super cute!

AllYouNeedIsAClickyBallpoint · 12/06/2012 21:18

Foureyes - that's incredibly generous of you!
I don't want to take something that you might regret one day.
I'll pm you, but I won't be offended if you decide it's too much :)

We're going to Spain next week, I can send something from there if you like?

If there are any countries not yet covered, let me know - owing to my 10 years in a weird job, I have friends in lots of different countries Grin

FourEyesGood · 12/06/2012 21:23

Seriously, I don't want these stamps and would love them to go to someone who'll appreciate them. Hurrah for mumsnet!

iceandsliceplease · 12/06/2012 21:23

Gah, meant to say, any countries on his letters not yet covered...

AllYouNeedIsAClickyBallpoint · 12/06/2012 21:26

Ice - if you know anyone in Jamaica that would be brill!
Ds thinks if he sends a letter addressed to Jamaica, it will be delivered straight to Usain Bolt's hands :o
