I've learnt a shitload of stuff!

~ That it's possible to buy frozen, chopped onions
~ That there are people who drink more wine than I do
~ That my relationship is amazing and that my DP is a wonder
~ That I'm even more judgemental than I thought
~ That everyone is judging me all the time, and how little I care
~ That I should meal-plan
~ That I should be grateful every day for my health and that of my family
~ That I should be grateful that my DC will eat whatever is put in front of them

And mostly

~ That it doesn't matter what someone needs, someone else will know the answer/how to get it. Or will just do a bit of handholding until everything's better.

"That when men are being unfaithful they share a communal script which they follow to the letter."

This. ^ Wish I'd known it sooner.

I have been introduced to wonderful artists, authors and musicians, because of threads on here.

That I am a feminist

That other people, besides me, enjoy zapping zits. Thank you so much to whoever introduced me to popthatzit.com!

Some stuff that I should probably not have googled.

That people whose children have a disability or SEN are properly screwed over by the state.

That most people are pretty kind and will go out of their way to help a stranger.

That when the worst thing that can happen to a mother happens to you, that a bunch of women will rally together and even though they can't take the pain away, they will be there for you. They will knit and crochet, they will make cards, they will send roses and at the end of all that they will still be a listening ear.

That other people are indeed fascinated by spots and their contents.

That I am not the only one who feels sorry for inanimate objects and does my best to make them feel better Blush

Huge support during my pregnancy, when I had no family and only one friend in the area, and continuing support and fun during DS's first year.

That there are actually people out there far more pedantic than I

That there are a load of brilliant women out there who give me a little more faith in society.

That whatever my baby is doing is completely normal- I try and get every pregnant woman I know to join MN!

And so, so much other random stuff, from what can go in the dishwasher (A- everything) to bf advice.

Like so many people its impossible to remember them all but here's a few:

  • I had no idea that some people refuse to vaccinate their children at all.
  • How often some people clean their houses/change bed linen.
  • Just how little support some mums have - coping with 2/3/4 children with some quite severe challenges without a partner or family helping out.
  • Just how little/much money people have.
  • That for every question related to family life in any way - the answer will be found somewhere on mumsnet.
  • Really - how lucky I am with my dh, my dc's and my extended family even though I frequently want to throttle my MIL

That if you wash the glass doors of the shower with shampoo, it will get rid of the dried up stains very easily indeed. I shall be doing this for the rest of my life. Thank you Mumsnet.

Is it really true?
Do you have to dry it down afterwards to make it nice and shiny?

Veet to clear the shower drain.

Never to lose a shopping list.

Some good grammar tips (thank you pedants' corner).

I had forgotten what a feminist I was in my uni days twenty years ago and am thankful to have been reminded.

I am also reminded that there is still an astonishing amount of work to be done to remove the stigma surrounding mental illnesses.

Having said that, there is also an astonishing breadth of knowledge and helpful advice on these boards, from plumbing to literary criticism to education experts to legal eagles to style gurus.

And finally I have discovered that I am scared of Style & Beauty.

-How to fold a fitted sheet
-Mooncup
-That my DP is amazing
-That my exes really were as bad as I thought, each in their own way
-Just how little money some people have
