I've learnt a shitload of stuff!

~ That it's possible to buy frozen, chopped onions
~ That there are people who drink more wine than I do
~ That my relationship is amazing and that my DP is a wonder
~ That I'm even more judgemental than I thought
~ That everyone is judging me all the time, and how little I care
~ That I should meal-plan
~ That I should be grateful every day for my health and that of my family
~ That I should be grateful that my DC will eat whatever is put in front of them

And mostly

~ That it doesn't matter what someone needs, someone else will know the answer/how to get it. Or will just do a bit of handholding until everything's better.

I did not know that about baby vests, and it never even occurred to me to pull them down after a poosplosion

That theres a reason for baby vests having those odd necklines...so they can be pulled down when dealing with a poo explosion, rather than over the head.

I couldn't stop telling people in RL! Surprising how few knew that!

I have done the mumsnet haircut on my hair and it is definitely the best haircut I have ever had. I have fine dead straight hair and a round face, but the layers in that haircut have got a tiny bit of bounce in them so my hair looks fuller and more voluminous.

I didn't know that about chicken kievs. I always make a little dish out of foil, so even though the garlic butter comes out, it's not lost. I either pour it over the top when I serve it, or add it to the mashed potato :)

This thread has taught me about using glass cleaner to clean the chrome in the bathroom - genius! It's still a bit patchy in places, but to be fair I didn't try very hard. Most of it looks amazing with just a quick spray and a wipe!

"Expect to be fed" in the middle of a L.O.s party ? That IS new ( I always helped out if i was staying for one reason or another and would 've expected the same from any adult at our parties) Maybe DH cracked a bottle of wine if he was around for any adults but apart from leftovers I certainly wouldn't feed any adults!!!

Yes the party thing is more nuanced but i've read loads of threads about it on here and it was one of the first things i encontered on here and thought 'really?'

Basically, when I was a child, parties were at someone's house until we were about 9 or 10, when we might go swimming, skating etc. Parents dropped off and collected from about age 4. now, from what i've read here, it seems usual for parents to stay and expect to be fed, up to age 7 or so. That's partly but not only because lots of parties are now at venues outside the home.

(speaking as an old gimmer) ref. parties hasn't it always depended on the age of the DCs and the type of party it is? Oh also the nationality of the hosts?
