to eat a pea because I feel sorry for it.

I have just eaten a cherry tomato that I didn't really want (last one, bit bruised and squishy) because I 'felt sorry for it' and thought it would be sad if it didn't get eaten like it's friends...

I often do this with peas as well.

And other small pieces of food

Confused

I try to tell myself that it's ridiculous "Jaded it's just food, it doesn't have feelings FFS"

But still I find myself adding the manky mushroom to the risotto so it doesn't feel left out.

Anyone?

I do this Blush, I have to make sure that all the beans/spaghetti hoops are out of the tin, also if cooking rice/pasta it all has to come out of the pan or the one bit will get lonely.

Aerobreaking · 29/02/2012 17:48

This is the first nutty as a box of frogs thread on MN that I am proud to say I do not do

I will happily leave the last pea, or the squished mushroom, and I have even been known to split up pairs of socks whilst they're drying if there is only room for one of them on the radiator Shock

You lot are mad, quite mad I tell you

CotherMuckingFunt · 29/02/2012 17:52

I do all of this. To the extent that when I'm doing Suduko, I have to work my way through all the numbers in order, eg, fill in the 1s, then the 2s and so on up til the 9s. If I see a 4 that can be filled in but I'm on the 7s I have to carry on up to 9, start back on 1 and work my way up to 4 before I can fill it in. Otherwise it isn't fair on the other numbers. It's like 4 would be jumping the queue.

also, if my little finger on my right hand touches something cold I have to let my litle finger on my left hand touch it so it's fair.

And don't get me started on odd socks.... Sad

SlightlyJaded · 29/02/2012 17:52

Crunch / Frownie Yes it is especially applicable to things in a can: baked beans/spaghetti hoops etc. I completely buy into the 'they've spent so much time together in a confined space, they must be really close' theory and it is imperative that they fulfill their destiny.

Lesley I think I love your DP.

Except that I will now fret about the clothes that have been pulled out of the drawer to be packed but been rejected at the last minutes on the basis that our excess luggage is about to exceed the cost of the actual holiday

Perhaps these clothes could be hung near a window in a different room so that they get a bit of a holiday too - change of scene, different view etc?

That is such a lovely idea Jaded Smile. I leave plastic toys near the stuffed toys that are left when the kids choose what they're taking away with them so they don't get bored or lonely

PinTHISonYerCabbageMister · 29/02/2012 18:00

Cother, I have ishoos about numbers queue barging in Sudoku as well.

I have to pat the house goodbye if I'm leaving for a day or two, because it will be left by itself Blush.

PinTHISonYerCabbageMister · 29/02/2012 18:02

I'm not even bloody Catholic, to be trailing clouds of guilt wherever I go. Hmm

NormanTheForeman · 29/02/2012 18:07

I actually say "Goodbye house" when we go away......

And put toys that aren't being taken on holiday together to stop them being lonely.

TrinityRhino · 29/02/2012 18:13

I went and 'checked on' my car later the same night that it got hit by my neighbour

he came and told us so we could see the damage and there was a chunk broken out of the back of the wing mirror and two little dents

I told it, it would be ok and I still loved it (infromt of him, he knows I'm mad though) and then I checked on it later to see if she was ok

her name is Mabel

AmberLeaf · 29/02/2012 18:18

Funny Grin

Not just me then!

Minty82 · 29/02/2012 18:27

Norman - I don't do goodbye, but I always say "Hello house" when we come back! And now if I don't, DH picks me up on it...

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 29/02/2012 18:27

You lot are bonkers, I won't tell you what I am hoping will happen when I wash and tumble dry certain objects, like unwanted teddies. You would all keel over!

TrinityRhino · 29/02/2012 18:32

god no purple!!!

really?

thats awful
send them to me, I'll be kind to them

ILoveToPost01 · 29/02/2012 18:33

You're a MURDERER!!!!!!!!!!

SlightlyJaded · 29/02/2012 18:34

Be careful Purple

Some toys are VERY sensitive and have probably picked up on your thoughts.

And I'm sure you wouldn't really want to upset them.

TrinityRhino · 29/02/2012 18:35

they will know they are unwanted...

you are depressing teddies!!!

NormanTheForeman · 29/02/2012 18:35

I also find it really difficult to eat chocolate teddy bears etc. Have to bite their heads off quickly to minimise the pain........ Blush

joshandjamie · 29/02/2012 18:35

wow - so it's not just me then. I also feel sorry for the last piece of loo roll stuck onto the roll. Doesn't get to fulfil it's destiny, even though it's destiny is pretty shit (no pun intended). So have to pluck it off and use it.

TrinityRhino · 29/02/2012 18:36

oh god, those chocolate bunnies are the worst

I have to eat it head first and quickly till the head is gone

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 29/02/2012 18:37

Trinity you will be pleased to know that sadly my plan doesn't work they usually come out fluffy and beautiful! Bastards And it isn't treasured teddies just the ugly ones that have been gifted so I feel awkward giving to a charity shop. Digs self hole

TrinityRhino · 29/02/2012 18:38

ugly ones?!!!!!

TrinityRhino · 29/02/2012 18:38
Grin
PurpleWithaBlueBun · 29/02/2012 18:41

Ok I will admit most toys give me the creeps unless they look nice, so I buy Dd more expensive dolls that have an appealing face rather than cheapy, tescos ones that look like they want to creep up and kill you. These teddies are of a similar ilk!

joshandjamie · 29/02/2012 18:42

I will admit that I have got a lot better than I used to be. And now I think: well little pea, you may be on your own, but dude, you are going to have a super cool adventure in the composting bin instead of where your friends are going. (I do try to pair them up though to have adventures together so they're not scared).

Perhaps not better then.

Allthewhitehorsesarestillinbed · 29/02/2012 18:45

I tell myself that anything I've lost has gone on an amazingly wonderful adventure so I don't feel sad they're gone... y'know, pens, odd socks and earrings. I have passed this on to DD1 who like me, gets terribly distressed when anything goes missing.

I don't think I, or any of you, are odd [solemn look emoticon]
