to eat a pea because I feel sorry for it.

I have just eaten a cherry tomato that I didn't really want (last one, bit bruised and squishy) because I 'felt sorry for it' and thought it would be sad if it didn't get eaten like it's friends...

I often do this with peas as well.

And other small pieces of food

Confused

I try to tell myself that it's ridiculous "Jaded it's just food, it doesn't have feelings FFS"

But still I find myself adding the manky mushroom to the risotto so it doesn't feel left out.

Anyone?

Puntastic - you think? Grin

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 15/03/2015 11:54

Yep, this sounds familiar...

When I was at university and went to competitions with my team I used to volunteer to take the teddy bear mascot, because I knew the others would squash her up in their bags. I either made her a comfortable little nest, or more usually put her in my rucksack (saying sorry she'd be a bit squashed for a little while) and then take her out on the coach so she could sit on my knee and look out of the window.

Daftest thread I've read in a while Grin
I don't brush the MLP and Barbie's hair regularly and make sure they're put nicely away in groups so they can be together just in case Toy Story is based on real life at all, honestly BlushGrin

Now, hold on there SligtlyJaded. We're talking soap residue? Peas and sweetcorn and toys, dented tins, crap plants at the garden centre.... All of these things have feelings. Soap residue? I think you've lost it Smile

Hoppinggreen · 15/03/2015 12:04

I take the opposite view. If one pea has escaped the bowl t is clearly making a bid for freedom so the least I can do is respect it's will to live.
I put it in the bin but it gives it a fighting chance !!!

SlightlyJaded · 15/03/2015 12:07

Eliza! Shock

Soap residue? SOAP RESIDUE? No. Bubbles.

Mr and Mrs Bubble and all the baby bubbles that are expecting to make it to the ocean.

I remember reading something where Maureen Lipman said she was putting a little dish back in a kitchen cupboard, and then re-arranged a couple of pots so the dish could be with its friends! I smiled, then realised it's exactly the kind of thing I do.

BoyFromTheBigBadCity · 15/03/2015 14:09

I do most of these. When I was a kid, I decided my teddy was cold so I gave her a jumper - we lived basically on the equator at this point. I also have to use all my mugs equally, and also pans, knives or anything i have more than one of. I often feel sorry for my tea bags when I have coffee. I reread my books fairly often, but worry that some of the books are jealous or feel left out if they don't get read as often, or I'll reread a book I KNOW I DON'T PARTICULARLY LIKE. And if I'm not enjoying a book, I have to spend some time getting over the guilt of not letting it be read all the way. This has abated somewhat now I get my books from charity shops and libraries, since I know that they have fulfilled their destiny with someone else. I have more than one pair of bird earrings and they too must always face out. If the toys aren't comfy how can people bear it?

BikketBikketBikket · 15/03/2015 14:10

I get very upset if I close a drawer or cupboard and accidentally trap a sock/piece of paper/ bit of ribbon etc - I can feel the pain until I've opened the drawer/door, apologised to whatever was stuck and made sure that it's not trapped any more...
And all these years I've thought that it was just me... BlushGrin

Cameochick11 · 15/03/2015 15:58

I had a PE bag with a very cute appliquéd dog on it when I was about 6. We all left our kit on our school pegs, but I cried and cried because the dog would be scared and as everyone else had plain bags, he wouldn't have any friends to keep him company in the dark.

Am glad to be among you all Smile

I do that with the socks on the airer too! Thought it was just me being soppy - glad to hear I'm not alone. And if I can't find a sock's pair I put it with other socks so it won't be lonely. DH tuts & shakes his head.

I'd like a new car but wouldn't like to hurt my current car's feelings by replacing it Grin

NurseRoscoe · 21/03/2015 13:20

Totally get the soft toy thing! My sons teddy got a rip in it and I feel so guilty for not sewing him yet!

Food no! I'm mean like that! If it looks minging I take great delight in throwing it out as I hate yucky things! I even put the kids leftover food down the bog sometimes, sod it's feelings as long as I don't have to touch it!

SlightlyJaded · 21/03/2015 13:35

DS has just rearranged some birthday cards on the shelf so that, in his words, 'everybody gets a turn at being in front'. Good boy. Grin

In M&S, I moved a little chocolate rabbit, that had been shoved on a random shelf, back to the basket of chocolate rabbits so it wouldn't be lonely. I have post viral fatigue and had to walk the full length of the shop but it was worth it. BlushGrin

I would always, always draw two of any animal/bird when I was little so they could keep each other company.

fragrancemeister · 21/03/2015 16:10

i had a big old Volvo car that was really reliable and had an enormous boot that could carry all the kids 'stuff' when we went out for the day.He was an amazing car and such a good friend, his name was Ciggy,When Ciggy could no longer be repaired due to parts being obsolete(he was VERY old) I cried when the salvage man came and put a big grabber through Ciggys windows to pick him up.Ow,that must have hurt so much.Mega guilt trip

tattychicken · 21/03/2015 16:22

I bought a lovely little antique silver picture frame from EBay, with space for two photos. When it arrived it still had the old photos in it, which were of a Mum and 2 little girls, all loving and smiling at each other. Judging by the clothes they're from the late 60's/early 70's. I couldn't bear to throw them away, or even cover them up, so they're on the sideboard amongst my family photos, still smiling and looking happy. People often ask who they are and give me the Hmm when I explain...

I always say thank you to the basl plant when I pick leaves. Actually, I say hi to everything in the bloody garden. Except the grass. I hate the grass, it's a sod. Grin

squishinglittlefatcheeks · 22/03/2015 14:33

My dd has a small doll which she took great delight in undressing, then refused to let her get dressed again. I felt so bad for the doll being all naked and she must feel so cold that I made a new outfit. One that could not be taken off. I actually spent an evening doing this.
Also I know my plants talk to each other despairingly wondering whether I will remember to give them water. I can almost hear the cries of happiness when I water them.

TheTallestDaffodil · 22/03/2015 22:15

I love you all!
When we take toys on holiday (heartlessly selected by squashability) they have to sit looking out of the window during the day, because it would be cruel to fly to a whole different country and then just look at hotel walls Sad
I've just confessed some of this to DH and he's looking at me as though I'm mad.... what's that all about? Grin
