To wake four sleeping children, then drag them to the shop in the pouring rain?

Okay I need advice, have posted here because its the busiest place. My Dc are all sleeping, aged 7yrs nearly3yrs and 18months.

I have an aquaintances newborn with me who I am looking after unexpectedly after a frantic phone call. Newborn is three weeks old, mum has been taken ill, rushed to A&E. She is a single parent and has no family nearby, I only know her through mother and toddlers.
Baby was dropped to me half hour ago by her very elderly neighbour, there was no-one else to take him when she was taken ill, he would have gone into emergency care Sad

I have nappies and clothes, but baby is usually breast fed. I am no longer feeding any of mine. I dont have formula.

Its pissing down outside, all the kids are fast asleep and will object to being woken or walking anywhere,I dont own a double buggy, no longer have a sling, and dh is working away.

How the fuck am I gonna get a newborn a 18month 3yr old and poorly 7yr old to the shop and back. aggggghhh!

Its a 6/7 min walk there, I could run in under 5mins, should I do that do you think? Leaving them sleeping? Or waking the seven yr old and talking to him on the homephone from my mobile? would that be insane? or is it more insane to try and get them all up and there with only one buggy and torrential rain.
Someone HELP!!!

If I was in this situation I would ring a friend of mine and ask them to go.

TitianTinselTemptress · 12/01/2011 21:16

Bumping for you

FlamingoBingo · 12/01/2011 21:16

OP, I'm GL4 if that helps x

DanceInTheDark · 12/01/2011 21:17

You need a 24 hour tesco type shop for bottles and teats as well as formula (Don't need a steriliser if you have a dishwasher) so yes i would wake them if you can't get a neighbour or MNetter to help.

Where abouts are you?

eviscerateyourmemory · 12/01/2011 21:17

Do you know anyone who is bottle feeding who could drop things round to you?

PutOnThePan · 12/01/2011 21:17

I have unused bottles and a steriliser - NP12 - as well as cartons and formula if it is any help at all.

There are only five houses in our culdesac, two are holiday homes. I have tried knocking on next door, but noone answered, the other houses are very elderly and frail. They wont answer the door at this time of night, let alone go to the corner shop. Im running out off time shop shuts at 10.00.
I did try ring through to them,( the shop)but nobody is answering. I thought someone from the there might be able to stop by on the way home to drop formula off if I paid by card over phone. shit shit shit.

You'll have to ring a friend or neighbour to go, otherwise a taximan. Don't dream or waking them and you can't leave them, imo.

Where are you OP? I am here on my own with my DN, but have friends who I'm sure I could try for you. I'm in the Herts area.

sungirltan · 12/01/2011 21:22

did you get anywhere? my mates at school used to get cab drivers to deliver fags to the school gates - i expect if you plead enough and go for a small firm a taxi company might do it for free

NoCarpForMe · 12/01/2011 21:22

also CM23

have you tried calling a delivery company like ocado/tesco/sains and saying it's an emergency case?

Guacamole · 12/01/2011 21:22

I'm willing to help if possible, but I've had a thought... Maybe the community midwife would be able to help... You can google their out of hours number and explain the situation!

sungirltan · 12/01/2011 21:22

im pl1 and cant help but im willing to badger a cab firm :-)
