I'm quite sure I've just done something mad...

TMI alert! Have had a very bad tummy bug and am left in a position where venturing more that 30 seconds from the loo would be a foolish risk. I've decided that the water I'm drinking is passing through my body at great speed so in a rash moment I've swallowed a round piece of floaty plastic to time how long it takes to come out. I'm mad aren't I, too long on the sofa with only flat lemonade and salty crisps for company I think.

I've read through the comments since I last posted and have concluded that the OP needs to eat some sweetcorn and gold leaf, in order to satisfy science and creativity.

oldraver · 04/11/2010 12:58

DS ate a piece of Lego brick candy at a theme park. It was a light moss green colour so I assumed as it wasnt the usual lurid colours of some US sweets it was a natural colour like his fake Smarties

Oh no, it turned his poo Moss green and gave me a fright. I just looked in the bowl and thought 'what is wrong with that shit', then realsied it was the sweet

BusyMissIzzy · 04/11/2010 12:59

I don't think anything solid would pass through at the same rate as water. It's not like a tidal wave through a sewer in there, the intestines are quite narrow and solids have to be squeezed through by the muscles.

juneybean · 04/11/2010 12:59

absolutely pissing myself at PlentyOfPockets

Marking place Grin

Why eat salt out of interest?

Notquitegrownup · 04/11/2010 13:04

lolol

(and just to add my tuppence worth - Thomas the Tank Engine Blue icing also has a spectacular dyeing effect on poo too - bloo poo.)

sparklyblack · 04/11/2010 13:08

This is fantastic! But poor you being ill OP.

The salt would be to replace lost electrolytes bumperlicious, as with all the water leaving OP's body, lots of sodium, potassium etc will be too. When people have cholera (i.e. lose loads of water), they are given a salt/sugar solution to drink for this reason. Wouldn't have thought it was really necessary unless you actually have something of cholera-like proportions though.

bran · 04/11/2010 13:09

Couldn't you just add a bit of food colouring to the water that you're drinking? Blue would be a good colour, or pink. Probably not worth doing it if you only have green, yellow or brown.

bran · 04/11/2010 13:10

x-post with NQGU. Great minds thinking alike there. Grin

mollymawk · 04/11/2010 13:11

Hang on though, if it's still in there why don't you eat some more pieces and then try to internally build them into something - like that man on Britain's Got Talent who undid padlocks in his stomach.

Having said that, might make it a bit less pleasant on the way out...

TorcherQueenie · 04/11/2010 13:12

Marking my place

Noticed on the website posted earlier with edible glitter that the white glitter has sold out in both sizes already so own up who evers brought it out! Grin

Hassled · 04/11/2010 13:13

BEST THREAD EVER :o.

I've had the sparkly shit experience too - it is all a bit disconcerting. And when I rashly bought DS3 a Mr Bubble ice lolly once his poo was blue - I still regret not taking a picture.

IWillCountToThree · 04/11/2010 13:14

ROFL I now can't wait till christmas, My 13m Ds will love eating tinsel! (My girls were far too sensible as toddlers, boo.)

Considering purchasing white and blue glitter to decorate the Christmas cake! :o

GingerGlitterGoddess · 04/11/2010 13:14

PlentyOfPockets I nearly lol'd myself off the sofa Grin

Hassled · 04/11/2010 13:14

mollymawk :o. Try hard enough and you could produce the Lego Millenium Falcon.

I'm wondering whether we should send op a care package of water, salt, sugar, aloe vera impregnated bog roll and anusol.

I'm concerned about the integrity of her anal structures. I hope the lego was free of jagged edges.

TeaRocks · 04/11/2010 13:18

If I put white glitter, blue and red food colouring to my Christmas cake, do you think DS might produce something resembling Aquafresh?

DanceInTheDark · 04/11/2010 13:22

Where can you get edible glitter from? I can see an experiment some baking happening this weekend!

lostinwails · 04/11/2010 13:25

Thank you for caring AddictedisaMummy's DH, I have drunk lots of water and managed to keep down a packet of salty crisps over the last 2 hours, the crisps emerge undigested in the tsunami but I'm guessing the salt will have been used on the run through?

I wish I had some food colouring in the house, that would have been a much better idea, that or beetroot juice (although that does taste grim IIRC) no point adding a solid to trace the path of a liquid, I will return my degree immediately. I feel I have let you all down now! I would like to point out that in the future when I am 'back to normal' so to speak I will not be checking my poo for lego, which I fear may disappoint many!

SarahStrattonsSparkler · 04/11/2010 13:25

Wouldn't edible glitter break down in the stomach? Has anyone actually tried this already? I think I will start with ordinary glitter for the best effect, crunchy but very visible.

Poppity · 04/11/2010 13:27

It has occured to me that for this experiment to be of worth there needs to be a control.

Someone whos poo is a 3 or 4 needs to swallow an identical lego piece and time it's return to the fold....

FIMBOfedupofrandomfireworks · 04/11/2010 13:27

I vote this thread should be moved to MN classics - I off to report it! Grin

Just woke up the gently snoozing baby beside me howling at PlentyOfPockets Grin

Any sign OP? Hope you feel better soon.
