Worst behaviour seen at a wedding. :)

... Inspired by a thread in AIBU. (But not a thread about a thread. )

what is the worst behaviour you have seen/witnessed/heard of at a wedding?

A couple I have heard of.... Groom's mother turns up dressed in her own wedding dress and carrying a bouquet.

Another one.... during wedding speeches, Grooms mother gets up and welcomes her DIL into the family by stating 'Remeber. He will never love you as much as he loves me'.

Groom's father spends entire speech rhapsodising about his own success within Amway then finishes it by urging his son to 'give her one for me'. Bride's parents leave the room.

GetOrfMoiLand · 23/07/2010 17:41

Lol at Amway speech. Dear god alive

FakePlasticTrees · 23/07/2010 17:44

One of Dh's friends asked me to sleep with him at our wedding reception.

FakePlasticTrees · 23/07/2010 17:45

oh, and one of DH's friends (not close and we weren't invited) had a traumatic wedding - the bride's mother punched the groom's mother at the top table. Apparently the groom's mother made a rude comment about the wedding cake, which the bride's mother had made.

cocolepew · 23/07/2010 17:46

OMG @ wearing her dress

My MIL sobbed and howled throughout mine, it was in a registary office so everyone was sitting close tgether. Nobody paid me and DH and attention, they were too busy looking, slack jawed, at her. When we were walking out DH hissed "it's not a bloody funeral you know" She replyed "It might as well be, you've gone from me wee son, goooone!". . They're not even close.

flyingdoll · 23/07/2010 17:47

A co worker of the bride and her partner were caught stealing the wedding cake! The groom witnessed them lift it from its stand, carry it through the hotel lobby and out the door. Chaos erupted in hotel car park.

Booboobedoo · 23/07/2010 17:47

My MIL walked 'round our reception asking anyone who would listen if we were thinking of having children? Only we hadn't mentioned it to her, and she was desparate for grandchildren.

For the record, DH has a lifelong medical condition that renders him infertile, and was diagnosed as a child.

As she's his mother, she was clearly aware of this.

Loon.

hatwoman · 23/07/2010 17:47

I heard a best man's speech that seemed to mainly comprise of recounting a story of the groom shagging an ex in a caravan.

MathsMadMummy · 23/07/2010 17:47

we decided not to attend my SIL's wedding, but apparently her mother spent the entire time hiding in the toilets

(I know that's not very interesting but I'm marking my place so I can read all the others!)

JaxTellersOldLady · 23/07/2010 17:49

at my friends wedding her fathers speech was terrible, it was cringe worthy, luckily the gods were with us and chose that moment to hammer down with torrential rain on the marquee and nobody really heard much of it - until the end part which was fine.

lol at the amway speech!

Butkin · 23/07/2010 17:50

During his speech the best man explained how he and the groom had earned beer money, whilst at Uni, acting as sperm donors. Whilst many thought it was funny I was watching the bride's parents look of shock!

GetOrfMoiLand · 23/07/2010 17:51

lol at the theft of the wedding cake 'chaos erupted in the car park'

I have nothing to add, have only ever been to staid and sensible weddings.

pranma · 23/07/2010 17:52

My very elderly and very devout RC m-i-l stood up in registry office and shouted,'Where's the priest? My son cant be married without a priest!'

Jazzicatz · 23/07/2010 17:54

At my sil's wedding at a hotel she went to her room to get ready to find her bridesmaid totally pissed and shagging the best man in her wedding bed

Caoimhe · 23/07/2010 17:55

I'd love to go to a wedding where something mad happened!!

EccentricaGallumbits · 23/07/2010 17:55

MIL got pissed, danced on a table and took her blouse off.

It was hysterical. DH went and did some washing up until it was over. I love my MIL so forgave her.

BAFE · 23/07/2010 17:59

Oh my God I love these stories too

you guys need to take a look at this website but I warn you, you'll be there a long time.

wedding hell

BalloonSlayer · 23/07/2010 17:59

What's amway?

TheNextMrsDepp · 23/07/2010 17:59

At my sister's wedding her evil new MIL pretended to have an epileptic fit in the church just when they came to the vows, so the attention was all on her. She perked up enough to winge about everything at the reception, though.

fearnelinen · 23/07/2010 18:01

My DH swore profusely through his speech! Tiny wedding, but Granny wasn't over impressed to hear that I am, in his eyes, Fucking Gorgeous.

Tomatefarcie · 23/07/2010 18:02

I'm a caterer so I have witnessed a fair few cringe moments:

Groom's mother stood up during speeches and said "As a conclusion, I would like to say to my son: remember that I will still be here WHEN she leaves you" (pointing at the bride).

Groom's mother turning up dressed in black, including a veil on her face.

Groom's mother turning up head to toe in some sort of latex outfit, leaving hardly anything to imagination.

Wedding party ending up in a huge brawl, the police had to be called, many a guest ended up in A&E, then had their pictures on the front page of the local newspaper.

Bride and Groom had hired a big bouncy castle for the kids. Lots of grown-ups got very drunk and ended up bouncing on the bouncy castle. Someone puked up on there, but it didn't put people off from bouncing and larking around. The stench was dreadful, and quite a few people were walking around with bits of the wedding menu stuck to their suits/dresses.

Shall I stop now?

TheCrackFox · 23/07/2010 18:03

Went to a wedding last year and the Best Man's speech was utterly filthy, there was a stunned silence in the room.

This is the cleanest joke:

"I hadn't realised they were going to Wales for their honeymoon but the groom told me he was going to Bangor all week".

The bride's dad was not impressed.

GetOrfMoiLand · 23/07/2010 18:04

Tomate I didn't read that you were a caterer, so was at all your wedding stories, and was just going to post 'are you Colleen Rooney'

KurriKurri · 23/07/2010 18:04

This doesn't exactly come under 'bad' behaviour (!), but at one wedding I know of, the groom's grandfather died during the service, sitting in his pew. (Very sad, but also bizarre)

MathsMadMummy · 23/07/2010 18:08

haha GOML

no Tomate, tell us more please!

I'm sensing a pattern with Groom's Mothers here...
