Cars with sliding doors

Ok, we need a bigger car as we are expecting twins & have a toddler. We have been looking at mpvs for a while & are going to test drive:

Fords Galaxy
Ford S-Max
Chrysler Grand Voyager
Peugeot 5008
Citreon C4 Picasso Grande

Out of the above cars only the Chrysler has sliding doors, which I believe would be good to have having to get 3 children out of their car seats in tight spaces. We do like the look of the Mazda 5 (only seen it online) but it does not have 3 full seats in the middle row & we can not put our eldest in the rear of the car b/c then we would not have a big enough boot.

Does anyone have a car with sliding doors? I know KIA Sedona has sliding doors but we haven't managed to look at one yet.

Any recommendations?

Many thanks

I have a 2 year old and newborn twins and we bought a Fiat Ulysses. Its the same Citroen C8 or the Peugeot 807. It has sliding back doors and they are really useful. The only drawback is the 2 rear seats don't fold flat and have to be removed if you don't want them, but when they are removed the boot is cavernous.

I was amazed that so few cars fit newborn twins and a toddler in the back seat! Good luck with the car shopping

Fiat no longer make Ulysses & nor do Citroen C8. Had forgotten about the Peugeot 807 so will check it out again

We have a toyota previa because sliding doors were so important to me. We have 4 children, incl. twins. We have removed one of the seats in the 3rd row, so have big boot space.

We have a fiat doblo which has sliding doors - makes life so much easier. The boot is enormous - loads of room for double buggy and huge amounts of shopping etc. It does look more like a van than a car!

We have the Peugeot 807 and it has electric sliding doors, operated by the key fob.

I would be lost without that feature as I never have a spare hand to be opening/closing doors with.

we have a kia sedona - the new model - I think the older models are not as good.

The one we have is very roomy, easy to drive, sliding doors (electric), fuel economy is not brilliant (mid 30s mpg diesel). 3 full seats in the middle plus 2 in the back. Sliding doors are particularly useful when you are in the strapping in car seats stage.

It is very wide though - so if you live anywhere with narrow lanes beware.

We have a Citroen C8 electric rear sliding doors.

We have 4 DC, at weekends one in the boot and we have removed the other rear seat for the double buggy.

Pros: the doors are fab, loads of room, prefer proper seats rather thn folding ones, when rear seats are up theres still a small boot.

Cons: drives like a van, nightmare to park (thats probably mt driving though)

Overall we are very happy with it.

I may be mistaken but I think Citroen still make the C8 and Peugeot the 807

We have 4yr old DS and 2yr old twins. We have Ford S-Max and love it. So far no probs (had it nearly a year) and would recommend it to anyone.

However we don't really drive much as can walk to most places we need to get to and we particularly don't drive to many places where parking is tight and sliding doors are a godsend.

My sister has a Toyota Previa with sliding doors and loves it.

We didn't really try out any others although DH looked at VW Touran as well and it only came down to looks as we preferred look of S-Max more.

I had only ever driven small cars before and was nervous of big bus type thing but have no probs with it. Did pay extra for parking assist though which I love!

We got Citroen Berlingo just before twins were born (already had 7 yr old ds). We only had a Fiesta before so needed bigger car but did not have much money. I did not like the way the Berlingo looked like a van but DH loved it!! However, have to say that sliding doors were the best thing ever, especially on windy days - very economical too and the boot was huge so no problem with double buggy plus shopping etc. Have now replaced with a Picasso which I prefer the look of but still miss sliding doors.

We have a Toyota Previa with sliding doors, I never thought I would love a car as much

Ours has 2 captains seats in the middle which I use for the 2 car seats, and 3 seats in the back with boosters for the older dc who can do their own seatbelts. Boot big enough for buggy and shopping.

I can't recommend it highly enough
