hi ive just been put on clomid and everyone has said expext twins soon then i was just wondering how likey it is to have twins...

the drug can act variably - a friend had it and was scanned, which revealed 5 follicles so she was advised to not to ttc that month and they'd cut the dose. would twins bother you?

no i think we would love it be a shock at first but we d get over it ..... i no this might sound a bit thick but is it the more follicles you have more likely it is you have a multiple birth???

Yes, more ripe follicles mean more eggs. Multiple birth is more common when taking Clomid, but by no means a cert - I only had one egg (as I told you on the other thread) and conceived DS and only DS

how often do you have scans to check for follicles i havnt got an appointment till nov now

Some people don't have scans, some do - depends on the clinic you go to. Mine was going to check first month, then leave me to get on with it. Plenty of people don't have scans to check at all though.

I didnt have any scans to check for follicles when I was on Clomid because my gynae said that whereas twins was very common, "lots of babies" was uncommon. Instead I had a blood test every month to see if I had ovulated or not.

I didnt have any luck on 50mg or 100mg so had to go on to 15mg Clomid, and gynae said that as I was on maximum does there was a very high chance of twins or triplets. He was right, and I ended up with twins.

hi , ive got an appointment in nov think they will do a scan then? i would be quite happy with twins i keep having dreams about them !!!! how long did you have on 50mg before they upped your dose??

I was on 50mg for 2 mths but I didn't ovulate at all so then I went on to 100mg for two months, and again didn't ovulate so then went on to 150mg and ovulated immediately. Luckily I got pregnant in the second month so I was only on the Clomid for 6 months in total.

BTW obviously most of us who have had trouble conceiving would probably prefer having twins to not having a baby at all, but I am sure that all of the other twin mums are grinning, as am I, when I read your posts that you would be happy to have twins .......... you have no idea ......

The chances of twns with clomid is increased to 5-10% compared to twins occuring naturally at around 1.2%. Injectable clomid raises the chances to 20%. So it is still pretty low.

I'm a mum of twins and like sweetpotato said, grinning at the idea of wanting twins!
