I think it is best to confront them - I think most kids don't even realise the harm they are doing with bullying. Most kids don't want to be 'bad'. They just think it is a laugh. Difficult to know exactly what to say though - threaten them with telling their parents or the school? It must be tempting to tell them you'll cut their balls off but unfortunately I think you have to be more adult than that

shabbapinkfrog · 15/01/2010 18:33

awwwww no I dont - do I???? spoilsport!!

frumpygrumpy · 15/01/2010 19:32

Trips, its called a Babyliss Curl Press, it was about £20 now £13 in the sale. The link works when I click on it but, if it doesn't work:

Go to the Boots website
Click on the 'Electrical' tab
Click on 'Straighteners and hair styling'
Click 'Hair stylers and tongs'
Click 'Babyliss' and scroll down to it - Babyliss Curl Press

Its really good. Both my DDs love it you get a soft wave if you wind round a thick piece of hair and a tight curl if you wind a thin piece.

It heats instantly but do tell her it needs to cool somewhere safe or she'll burn the carpet. I have a tiled floor in the bathroom so I leave it there afterward.

Trips, what about buffet at the local Pizza Hut for the trio plus one friend each? Should work out fairly cost effective. You and DH can have a separate table for two. In fact they could all have their own table for two!! PH are usually quite good at that.

Alternatively, stop trying so hard if you think you can't win. Throw it to them to decide and tell them the budget/options. Is there a local leisure centre they could get an hours tennis coaching or something similar? Shouldn't cost too much.

Right. I think its time for a G&T! Haven't had one since HOGMANAY

frumpygrumpy · 15/01/2010 19:33

pinkfrog, you going to Chelles tonight? Can I come? Just in the mood to sip G&T and have a giggle with the girls We can compare Robbie notes......

HarrogateMum · 15/01/2010 20:11

Evening all! Not a multiple birther I'm afraid, just hijacking thread to stalk fg as I do now and again. Happy new year, hope you're okay. Still haven't shared the Bruce hotel story fully. Would love to hear it! Hijack over, goes back to goldfish bowl size glass of red...........

playftseforme · 16/01/2010 09:22

Hi Neenz - thanks v much for the advice. I'm originally from the Wirral but moved down Sarf almost 18 yrs ago. Harbouring fantasies about returning, particularly cos lots of family still there and cos childcare has got to be cheaper than E Surrey. I pay what you are paying with your CM for twins, for my dd . The nursery is the same price other than that dd now qualifies for the handful of free sessions and I use the childcare vouchers here too. I haven't done any maths yet on whether I should cut back on my days - I was still better off working FT with dd, plus I enjoy it - but I guess that may well no longer apply w 2 more on the way.....

shabbapinkfrog · 16/01/2010 10:56

Morning - I HAD A LIE IN!!! Whoo Hoo!

frumpygrumpy · 16/01/2010 11:17

northy!!!!!!!! Hello you! Happy New Year to you I have been a slack bint for the last few months and haven't been on much. RL has been hectic and I haven't been able to reach the pc. You know me and Bruce.........no day is complete without lusting after him in some form or another Will make a new thread special place asap and shout you over. Then I can (a) share wine with you and (b) go through every tiny detail all over again and cheer myself up in doing so Lovely to hear from you!

HM, no G&T since Hogmanay yup Halo
A glass of wine every night for medicinal purposes though

Seriously, I am on a slightly new regime. I've started eating with the kids at teatime and have a glass with dinner (and ocassionally NONE!!! ). DP eats on his own later. I got into a habit years ago of eating once the kids were in bed. But nowadays, DD1 doesn't go up til between 8 and half past and reads or is up and down til 9pmish. DP gets home so late or not at all if he's travelling so it was a habit of getting kids away and eating at the wrong time of night = busy night time (cooking and cleaning up and laying breakfast/school stuff etc) which = more wine than I should as I used it to keep me company.

I'm trying to eat with the kids, get my jobs done in the earlier part of the evening and then get an earlier night. Not easy for me as I like sleeping around the midnight hour. Anyway, it seems to be working. Teatime is when I love a glass of wine. Just the one though. Unless its a weekend and then I just shove the bottle into the top of my jeans, insert a long straw and sip on!

shabs a lie in!!!!!!??????? Pray tell!!! Were you getting laid? I'm just taking Robbie into the shower with me. In the cd sense.

shabbapinkfrog · 16/01/2010 11:23

Its all that Chellesters fault - too much drink, cheese, crackers and pickled onions!! I feel somewhat fragile this morning!! Wish my neighbour (he's Glasweigan (sp?)) would pack it in - he's DIYing very loudly Wish he would go and take the wallpaper off a different wall... SHUT UP!! Enough, already!!

frumpygrumpy · 16/01/2010 11:29

Shabs, he's Glaswegian.........just mention the booze and he'll either stop straight away and give you great respect or he'll mix a potion which will fix you forever. Seemple [meerkat]

shabbapinkfrog · 16/01/2010 11:34

He is verrrrrrrry scary - even when he says hello I think he is going to punch me!! If he wants to re-decorate thats fine by me [cowardy custard emoticon]

bagpuss · 16/01/2010 13:26

frumpster, you can fit a bottle in the top of your jeans? Lucky you! .

Shabs, well done on the lie in. .

Quiet here, dh taken older dcs out to a birthday party so I'm just mumsnetting catching up on the housework.

HarrogateMum · 16/01/2010 13:50

bagpuss - must be all the weight she has lost not drinking...! I have been not as good on my second week of cutting down...infact been rubbish. DH is away all week every week at the moment and my willpower without him is fairly rubbish plus when the kids have wound me up and I've done EVERYTHING myself...it can be hard to resist the temptation of the wine fridge (before you ask, I havent got one - its a shelf in my garage and as its so cold in there white wine is always at the right temp!)

estar · 16/01/2010 16:52

HM, my pregnancy feels very short because I haven't been on here whinging about it - for anyone who sees me regularly, they all agree it's been the longest pregnancy in history ever!!

piximon thanks for the offer but I already have a good support belt, and crutches and anything else that the physio can think of - I am now officially a lost cause

shabs I am gutted for Tom, I can't think of a worse thing than to see your child go through something which could threaten to destroy all the good work we do as parents to make them into well-rounded, secure individuals - BUT I think we all agree that no matter what a minority of his school peers think of him, we would all give our right arms as parents for our kids to grow up like him. He sounds like one of the amazing boys we have ever heard of and every story you relate about him gives us hope as parents of pre-high school aged children.

Shall we start a fan club on FB for him?

shabbapinkfrog · 16/01/2010 16:59

Thank you estar xxx

frumpygrumpy · 16/01/2010 17:54

Shabs, your Glasgow bloke is probably as soft as cotton wool underneath the accent. Seriously, make him laugh and you'll see another side. Try telling him you're scared of him when he says hello

Right girls, that's me set for the night Lay all your chat/pizza/alcohol this way and we'll coorie in.

HarrogateMum · 16/01/2010 18:21

FG - loving the sound of a feather-trimmed goonie, is it what I'm imagining, some kind of mere slip of see through chiffon with feather edging!??

oooggs · 16/01/2010 19:30

a dressing gown possibly? said with a heavy scottish accent????

largeginandtonic · 16/01/2010 19:50

Hullo

Have skimmed sorry, busy few days in the Gin house.

First and foremost there is no excuse for lack of Gin. You must drink more of it.

Estar!!! You are pregnant! How long have i been away Do you know what it is? How exciting

Oh and shurrup about the Mum of the Year thing. Twas hysterical. I will link (one day when i have drunk too much) to the YouTube clip of it.

Curio how is the BF going?

Shabbs poor Tom. Sometimes scaring the teachers is enough to sort it out. Fingers crossed. He sounds like such a lovely lad.

Trips you really did have a day from hell Have you spoken to the triplets about the Birthday yet?

HM will save the sorry tale for another night when i have drunk too much (It happens a lot) He is taking me to court for joint custody. The twins don't even want to see him It's complicated...

Pix how are you?

FG did you jump some random stranger in the street? Hope the little lad was ok with the op. Sure he will recover quickly, kids are =great at that. Arnica tabs are good and the cream. You can't use the cream on broken skin though.

Momma how was the rum

Sophie2008 · 16/01/2010 20:58

Hi,

Just a quick update. I had a private scan today and my two little monkeys are a boy and a girl! So excited as it was what i wanted.

Got some nice 4D pics of the boy but the little girl was shy, so got to go back in a couple of weeks to see if she will move for the scan. I tried everything, jumped round like an idiot, fizzy drinks, but she was determined not to let us see her face. Oh well, looking forward to seeing them again soon.

When i move in a few weeks I was going to do my daughters room pink, but my mums thinks not to bother as the little boy will go in it as it will be the smallest room at some point and the girls will share!
At what point would it be an idea that the girls start to share? My mum reckons when the twins are 18 months is to split them up so my older daughter will be just over 3 years old. i'm not sure.... Any tips please?

oooggs · 16/01/2010 21:09

Fab news Sophie - glad the scan went well. No idea when is good to seperate them. Can't remember when I did it as I only did it as they were disturbing each other. Can't advise on sharing either

totally useless - sorry I haven't helped at all
