Ruby, my DH has high blood pressure and we initially tried to control it with a low-salt diet but he ended up on medication anyway. He has a very healthy diet - lots of fresh fruit and veg, very low in fat (I hardly ever use anything except Fry Light in cooking) and high in protein and good carbs (I eat the same, but I supplement with more chocolate than him ). He was told a few months ago that he was on the verge of Type 2 diabetes and to start doing more exercise. We bought a cross trainer and using that 2 or 3 times a week combined with his healthy diet has brought his glucose levels right down to normal levels.
My lot had an INSET day today - back tomorrow . I have definitely had enough of the holidays .
Nice to see you FG...your house-warming/NYE parties sound great - where were our invites then?
Who's on for a multiples 'slim-a-thon' then? I want to lose at least a stone to get back down to my pre-wedding weight. We could cheer each other along and boost each other's will power when it wanes (ie every evening ). We wouldn't need to say what we weigh, just post each week how much we've lost...what d'y think?
Welcome to Monkeymargot. In answer to your questions:
Like HM, we have a Renault Grand Scenic, which is fab. It has isofix points in the front seat (with an airbag you can easily switch off) and 2 in the back. We didn't have it when the DTs were in baby seats, but had it with 3 stage 2 seats across the back (DD1 was only 20 months when the DTs were born) - we had isofix in each window seat and a Britax Renaissance in the middle. The 2 pop-up seats in the boot are very handy, particularly now the girls are older and we have friends round after school and when the seats are down, it's a massive boot - I think my record was 1 single buggy, 2 doubles and a £100 Sainsbury's shop . When we drove to France, we fitted everything in without needing a roof-box (and that's including a fortnight's worth of gluten-free bread, biscuits and pasta!).
Mine shared a crib in hospital and a moses basket when they came home. They moved on to separate moses baskets (we'd been lent a second one, I wouldn't have bought another) and then they shared a cot till they were about 4 months when they started hitting each other. They went into their own room when they were about 5.5 months.
I had an elective CS at 37+4, as my DTs were id and shared an amniotic sac, so quite a high risk birth, although I had been told I could try for a natural birth if I'd gone into labour before then. It was actually a very positive experience and I was up and about very quickly afterwards without any of the difficulties holding the babies or DD1 afterwards.
Blimey, a marathon post - I'm off now to make the tea .
