shabs - is he well enough to look after you a bit?

ZippysMum · 15/09/2009 13:49

hi all! sorry for absence - wierd bedside telly realised i was spending too much time on free mumsnet and blocked the site. working again now (obviously) though no idea why.

shabs - poor you feeling rotten -get well soon to you and to Tom.
dizzy - you ok?

well another change of plan here - my blood pressure is much improved so they have delayed delivery till friday. twin b has also moved again - now either oblique or transverse lie (i can't breathe - eeek). so my consultant has recommended a section and that is currently the plan unless i go into spontaneous labour before friday. Thanks to Mars i now have a brill vaginal birth plan too which the hospital have agreed (the monitoring was a real sticking point...) but i feel happy that i could cope with either option now. i was having some regular braxton hicks all night last night so who knows...

my consultant also told me that the emergency section rate here with twins where a vaginal delivery was planned is close to 50 percent, which put rather a different slant on things. i am keen to avoid one vaginal delivery and a section too!

and i am excited to be 37 weeks today!!!

anyway, things seem to change quickly so who knows what will happen!? i will keep you posted as i can - don't know if they have these tellys in delivery but if not will get a message to you through DogAgain. currently scheduled for friday morning...

mars, congrats on great-aunt-dom!

dizzymare · 15/09/2009 13:55

Zippy wow, friday morning eh! I'll keep my eyes peeled for news.

Dizzy is being very sick she's almost inside out Desperately trying to avoid dehydration at the moment, so my poor body is being pumped with more fluid than it can handle, but hey I'll be ok. Just feeling sorry for myself

Sending you huge hugs and loads of luck for friday!x

curiositykilled · 15/09/2009 14:02

zippy - very good news that you have a plan you are comfortable with either way and good news about the blood pressure! I shall await with baited breath, think I am next in the line for birth aren't I? I have a vested interest you could say.

dizzy - yuck, I am still sicky too at 33 weeks... bleurgh, school run not fun.

I am 35 tomorrow, so i really hope you dont beat me to it curiosity!! Every day dragging along now. feeling very emotional. Littlest things make me want to cry, any1 else feel like that with twins? i never had such mood swings with myfirst. Just feel so huge and heavy. I know i shouldnt but am wishing they come as soon as possible, dont think i can cope much longer. what did all you do to help u cope towards the end. im pretty much stuck in the house
and good luck zippy i hope u get the birth you want, im hoping for natural myself and twin1, although headdown, is kind of a transverse lie, his bum sticks out low at the side!! The other is breech. Still time for him to move yet tho

bagpuss · 15/09/2009 16:18

Oooohh Zippy how exciting! I am very pleased for you that you have a plan sorted now and that you'll be meeting your tiny people very soon .

Curiosity, you next then me . I am 30 weeks today - it feels like another milestone finally reached .

Dizzy and Shabs, hope you are both feeling better soon.

After a disasterous shopping trip today to buy hospital bag things my lovely mum is taking me shopping again tomorrow to buy some little snow suits and other bits - I don't think I have ever done so much shopping since before ds1 arrived 9 years ago. Today I was meant to be buying breast pads maternity towels and Lansinoh. We tried both Mothercare and Boots and couldn't find more than half a dozen manky boxes of breast pads between the two shops - no wonder the bf rate is so low around here - and why do they always put maternity towels on the bottom shelf so that the very heavily pg people that are likely to be buying them nearly topple over while trying to pick the right ones??? I came home empty handed and am considering giving up shopping in real life for the internet .

Right, now I have got that off my chest I am off to get dd from her after school netball club (first time she's tried it ). Hope everyone else is well.

curiositykilled · 15/09/2009 16:30

I hope I don't beat you to it either lucya! I feel the same... emotionally precarious... every little thing likely to induce an extreme reaction.

I'm looking forward to 34 weeks.

bagpuss - I did all my shopping weeks ago darling but I did a lot of it online as I have felt rather housebound for a while 33 weeks. I don't see why I should bother going out to the shop if the shop can come here. I got these for newborns.... very much cuter in real life...

I've organised an all unisex sleepsuit system with gender specific hats, socks and bibs so that the washing will be easier.

OP posts:
lucya1980 · 15/09/2009 16:48

that reminds me, i need something warm for them to go home in. they only have sleepsuits and vest hat atm!! next.com, here i come! lol

bagpuss · 15/09/2009 18:34

Curiosity, those are really nice - next have made those since ds1 was born 9 years ago and I've always liked them. Maybe I should get a couple of those in Newborn size and let my mum buy some 0-3 month ones? I am impressed by your organisation skills. All my baby stuff is white with just a couple of nice sleepsuits and 3 outfits each in gender specific colours (oh, and some cloth nappies and wraps too). The outfits are 0-3 months though as I'm not betting on wanting to dress them in anything too complicated for the first weeks. Oh, have ordered a pram too but still need to do car seats and a few other bits so we're nearly all set.

Lucy, sorry, must have cross posted before - that means I am third in line which is great because I am still in complete turmoil over their exit route, in fact I feel quite highly strung in general so you are not alone.

baby clothes make me sooooooooooooooooo broody. We had those little star snowsuits, so cute. I did a big bootfair before I left London and sold them .

We went to the PTA meeting. They tried to land me with the chair position until I stressed 5dcs and OU course = no time.

Momma we'll be passing your way early sat morning, would it be a good time to make a little drop off at yours? (by early, swimming finishes at 9am) so would be with you about 9.30am, happy to ring the bell and run ? Or could probably do Friday evening if that's better.

My dad has taken dt2 back to London with him for a week or so. Missing him already. Planning to use time as an opportunity to get potty training dt1. She so wants to be a big girl.

frumpygrumpyisacoffeeRevel · 15/09/2009 22:04

This thread, once again, has ebbed into a new form. Its so lovely. Its my favourite place to be, we truly have seen it all on here. I can't wait for these gorgeous new babies to arrive! You girls are about to enter a brand new part of your life, one that might test you to the limit, and maybe even push you to the edge, but also one that, ultimately, will show you that having multiples is just the most special, well kept secret there is. I never blag on about the good bits to many. I don't want them to know!

Pixi, I see what your doing And I ain't writing for no-one!!!!! My etchings are just for me. And Paolo

Must be tablet time I think. I feel a batch coming on.

frumpygrumpyisacoffeeRevel · 15/09/2009 22:06

Hi Pixi, we crossed. My reference was to an earlier post of yours.

'DT2 goes to London' sounds soooo romantic and sooooo 'Maisie Goes To Morningside'. Do you guys get that book down there?

I can confirm that FG's tablet is very yummy and does not last long if dcs are around. Is there nothing that woman can't do?

MarsLady · 15/09/2009 23:24

Zippy, fab news. I would imagine that one of the reasons for the emergency section is the lack of mobility in the mum and the pressure on the second twin. That of course is my opinion rather than medical fact. Ignore the text I sent. Read it again on Saturday.

Bagpuss... be sure to only buy THIN snowsuits. It is so easy for babies to overheat. Also, buy some tiny and early baby bits. Just a few. The 0-3 may well be too big for a while.

Did someone mention Tablet? Gosh! Now that's a delicacy that I've never tried. Sigh....

triplets · 15/09/2009 23:32

Shabs..........hope you are not reading this but are tucked up in your bed, poor you, I shall have to send you some medicine! Sad news today about Patrick and Floyd, also I got a call today to say my friend in Belfast has died of cancer, met her only once in 1982 in France, kept in touch ever since, a lovely lady.Bloody disease! I used to watch Floyd all the time, loved it when he would add a splash of wine, then drink a glassful for himself saying, "a little slurp my gastronauts"!

triplets · 15/09/2009 23:45

Right, my old mucker is not about so I am off for an early night, hope all the poorly ones have a good night xx
