How about counselling? Mine are too small to give any useful advice. But my boss had very difficult twins (at least until they were 13). She used to see a therapist to get tips every 1-2 months. She also took her twins once in while. She thought it was the best money spent.

I've had spells like this. I do find I get locked in a cycle.....a cycle of them behaving hideously and then me being horrible and it being catch22. I bought How To Talk So Your Kids Will Listen and Listen So Your Kids Will Talk. Once you get over the American schmarm it actually has good points.

Consistency is also key. In our house, my three children squabble and bicker. I refuse to get involved in 'she hit me first' chats and if they go on and on the rule is that they all go to different rooms until it calms. You do need to invest such a lot of time in this........they come out their rooms and start over and you have to go through it all again. But it does help. And having a strategy helps you know what to do instead of sinking down and feeling useless or yelling like a fishwife which is what I do
