Morning all

Was wondering if one of you lovely ladies could help me out with a little query???

I have found with my twin boys that Fraser (the older but only by 50 seconds and just over a lb in weight at birth) has been rolling over onto his tummy and lifting up onto his arms for around 6 to 8 weeks but Regan, the younger one is only now starting to show signs of attempting to roll but he has the strength to hold himself up on his arms if we turn him over.
Although when it came to weaning it was the other way around, Regan was able to chew and control eating solid food almost from day one where as Fraser took a little longer to have that control, just guzzled and swallowed in one go

Its the same with toys, Regan has much more control and is gentle when it comes to taking toys, Fraser has very little control and grabs at things and throws them

My question is...... did you also find this, is this the norm and does it tend to continue through life, I'd love to know your experiences, please, hopefully put my mind at rest

shabster · 08/02/2009 09:43

I am no expert love but I think that every baby is different. I reckon that they all do things at their own pace....I really wouldnt worry about either of your boys - they sound (and look) beautiful.

My two boys were very, very different. Danny was the crawler, the shouter, and the one you could never tell off. Gareth (because of his heart problems) was much less mobile but he was the imitater (would repeat words that you said to him almost perfectly) the much 'wiser' one, and the one who had the most horrendous temper

Mum41plus5, welcome! As Shabster says, all babies are different and do things at different times. When you just have the one baby, it's difficult not to compare them to your friend's baby of the same age, but when you have twins it's even harder, because you are constantly around them. I have id girls who developed at different rates, but took it in turns to do things first. DT1 started pulling herself around on her tummy first, then DT2 copied her. But DT2 crawled properly first. DT1 walked first, with DT2 about a month behind. They were both slow to talk, but DT2 had more words earlier than DT1. Both were earlier at moving around than DD1 but DD1 could talk in full sentences at 20 months, whereas DTs could only just about say Mummy and Daddy . So just another delight of having twins!!

Hello everyone else. Having a very slow weekend. Not sure if I am actually ill - I have a bunged up nose and sore throat in the night and my right arm aches constantly below my elbow into my wrist - or if I'm just feeling really low. Not dealing well with the girls at the moment - no patience and the slightest thing sets me off shouting, which had DD1 telling me I was a mean mummy and she thought I didn't love them the other day . I'm finding DD1 is really pushing my buttons at the moment, which isn't helping. Feeling sorry for myself and DH and I not communicating well which isn't helping. Aah well, it'll all come out in the wash I'm sure.

shabster · 08/02/2009 10:42

Awww TK - its the hardest job in the world being a Mum isin't it? I am mostly laid back with my sons but every now and then I hear words come out of my mouth to them and see a hurt expression on their face Think the massive problem is once you are a mum - you become lost somehow. Nobody knows your name and you are known as 'Toms mum' OMG I am sounding very shirley Valentine in this post!!

Tom is racing to puberty - not 12 until July but growing hairs in the strangest places, roaring with laughter then crying the next minute....I had forgotten all this from when Dan was this age......Dear God, Please help me with my sons puberty and my menopause!!

Thanks Ladies

shabster thats uncanny that is, we refer to dt2 (think I'm picking up lingo now, darling twin 2??) as the wise one he takes it all in and seems to take his time with things and it would seem if someone else can do it for him why bother to do it himself (strange that his name means little ruler and dt1 (we refer to him as the big fella) is just much more physical, always getting frustrated at wanting to do the next physical thing, roll over, sit up etc
Oh and like you say dt2 is already trying to mimic, he likes to copy us when we click our tongues

Hello tkband3 aaawwww your lovely girls what is it with little girls and dressing up, your pics are so like my dd3 pics, just wondering how this will affect the boys growing up in a house with 3 very girly girly sisters

What with child puberty, Menapause, and all the others, I'd like to throw my PMT into the mix of the wonders of life as a woman too

shabster · 08/02/2009 11:32

When we had the twins we were living with my parents waiting for our house to be ready to move into. Everytime my mum saw them she said 'hello' in a light, sing song sort of way. When the twins were 3 months old my dads work friend came to see them. My mum said to the twins 'say hello to Grandads friend' Danny just grinned but Gareth said 'hello' My Dads friend almost fainted on the spot. It was hysterical but freaked us all out badly

MUM41plus5 · 08/02/2009 11:48

omg shabster thats amazing worried me now though, I thought dt2 was doing well to be clicking

shabster · 08/02/2009 12:00

Dont worry love Now I look back on it Gareth had a very limited time to be here - he knew it and we didnt - it was his way of making his mark on the world. Your lads are doing just fantastic. STOP WORRYING right this very minute young lady!!!

MUM41plus5 · 08/02/2009 12:25

shabster very moving, I'm speechless, and very honoured to be in your company!
I will stop worrying, thankyou!!

shabster · 08/02/2009 13:45

Mum41 - dont be honoured in my company...I drink too much, swear quite often, sulk, and have been known to have several sneaky cigs nicotine tubes in my back yard.

Oh yes and when I sit down on any low seats I fart on the way down and more on the way back!!

We have about 2 inches of snow!!!!! Just went outside to have a cig put the bins out and there it is!!!

OP posts:
MERLYPUSS · 08/02/2009 20:36

No snow here yet. Please pray for snow on the A2 / Blackwall tunnel. That means DH wont be able to get to work and can help out tomorrow. I too feel achey and rough. The sticky toffee pudding and custard helped (it had dates in it = fruit = one of my five a day non?) but it didn't fix me.
SHABBY - Isaac has started poking his tongue out at random strangers. Thomas beams like a loon but Isaac poked his tongue out at the check out woman in Sainsbury's. She must've thought we were a right scummy bunch. The whole trolley was devoid of fruit and veg (mainly full of whole nut chocolate and frozen chips) and the kids were minging. Ho hum

Neddie · 08/02/2009 21:26

Hi Guys
Back from dropping DP off at airport. He will be back next weekend. OOh sticky toffee pudding-if only I didn't feel so yuk. Still no morning sickness but this gross chalky taste so that everything taste a bit puky. I have a confession. I have given up smoking due to being pregnant-I've been a good girl and went complete cold turkey ( I had one or two a day with the girls but I've been saintly with these two!). I must admit I could have really done with one in the car on the way home from the airport. I do feel a bit like I'm doing a prison sentence some days. No fags, no booze, no clubbing (yes I know I'm too old but it's dark and no one knows I'm geriatric)No riding or horses and all food taste s**t. It's still worth it though- to see DP's face when he saw the (rapidly growing)bump.I haven't even thought about the breast feeding with two- that must be quite demanding. One under each arm I suppose.

PazzaPlusTwo · 08/02/2009 22:06

hello!

PazzaPlusTwo · 08/02/2009 22:10

it is actually past my bedtime so im going to scootle ... missing you all! big hugs and kisses xxx

accordiongirl · 08/02/2009 22:26

Hello everyone! Haven't been on for aaaages, but confess to the occasional lurk cos I couldn't not know how everybody was getting on... Specially you, dear Triplets, have been cheering you on from the sidelines, just you couldn't hear cos I was doing it quietly.

Shabster - nerds is good! the nerds will inherit the world! think about it - it's the ones who are a bit odd, who don't swim with the tide, who are just a bit more interesting - why, they're the nerds! So pat yourself on the back nerd-mummy! Just get ready for T to have more friends than you... And those aren't farts, they're the furniture creaking.

So, DH away since Friday, until a week on Tuesday, twins are now TWO. That's it really.

Just hello hello!

triplets · 08/02/2009 22:36

Hi AC...........lovely to see you on here, miss all you regulars! Esp that Mars, she is lurking lately. Things exactly the same here, the only thing that has cheered me up this w/end which will make you young uns laugh is that I have bought my first mobile phone and learnt to text, OMG I can hear you all say! Sad isnt it? I have also been given a webcam but cannot get the disc to download, thought I just had to shove it in and it would run, nothing happens. Now all I need to do is learn to drive, I really should with life as it is, but I am sooooooo scared, a bag of nerves, passed my test in 87 first time, then gave up, lost all my confidence when Matthew died. Its such a pain atm, with H being so ill. Cant afford the lessons anyway. My two boys are waiting for new shoes as it is! Just had H`s b/day, kids b/day and my mums b/day all in the last 3 weeks! Need a job!

accordiongirl · 08/02/2009 22:40

a job? strikes me you're working pretty full-time already missus!
