Sharing there toys

Help !! My twins are coming up to 16 months and in the last week they are fighting and screaming over everything the other one has, even there own dummies, what is the best approach to take with twins regarding sharing !!

NO idea, but I shall be listening and lurking closely!

My twins are 6 and it has taken quite a while for them to learn to compromise with each other. One is more dominant and likes to be in charge. When he is getting his own way things are fine! When they were younger I sometimes used the kitchen timer so they got equal turns with something. I think it is a hard part of being a twin. Both being the same age, wanting the same things at the same time etc.

We used to have 2 techniques:

1. they used to swap toys. We used to count to 10 every 5 mins or so, and swap toys. they thought it was a game and would actually do it on their own someimtes (not the counting bit of course!)

1. we would take turns. Again we would count to 10 every 5 mins or so.

If either twin refused this, he would have time out, either on the naughty step, or in the buggy if we were out. Sounds harsh, but it worked!! Other Mums would often comment on how well they shared! Only because they have to do it so much earlier than other children. Most don't come accross sharing properly until they start nursery!

If a full-on fight was beginning to happen (or I didn't know who had it first!!) the toy would be taken away for 5 mins until they had started to play nicely with something else.
