Hello! We are all fine thank you...yes the holidays have been fraught in our house too! twins are small but perfectly formed, still waiting patiently to get out of 0-3 month clothes, may well have a party to conincide with their 1st birthday at this rate!

Yes, all I do is clean highchairs (or chuck it all on the floor and call the dog in) and make bottles, oh and wash vests and babygros!
Its nice to know we are all doing the same thing day after day after day after day....

Ah well, wouldn't change it for the world would we?????
Glad you are all ok, take care and speak to tyou soon.

mel2005 · 16/08/2009 10:03

i wouldnt worry about the 0-3m clothes my DD1 was born in jan and was still in 0-3 in the summer, the following summer she managed to get into 6-9m which were the summer clothes i had bought for her to wear the summer before. as long as they are happy and eating dont worry. she is now 3.5 and is in 3-5 year old clothes, so she caught up nicely.
i use reusable nappies for the twins which are huge so my two are in 6-9m so i can get the trousers to fit. but when we go out and i use disposables all their trousers constantly fall off. the 3-6 sleepsuits still have plenty of room as i use disposables at night. alice is alot smaller (2lbs less) than oscar now. but she is way more advanced in development.

Chatterbox1405 · 16/08/2009 14:44

mel - thanks very much hun

jennyroper - you from cots?

jennyroper · 16/08/2009 21:06

chatterbox - cots as in cotswolds?
no, my parents live in Lytham St Annes (up near sunny Blackpool) which is where I am headed a week on Friday. Am so excited. The on;y bit that doesn't excite me is travelling from Auckland to London solo with my 9 mth old twin girls and 2 year old son.

surrogacy that's so interesting. Did the egg split inside you to make twins? or were 2 eggs implanted or how did it happen? I'm sorry I have just asked such intrusive questions, it's just fascinating. The parents must be beside themselves with excitement

readyfornumber2and3 · 17/08/2009 11:44

Hi all x

I gave Birth to boy/girl twins on 5th aug and wanted to join you all

Sophie May was born first at 17:39 weighing 6lb 1/2 oz followed by Adam Edward at 17:52 who arrived feet first weighing 7lb 2 oz. I ws induced at 36+6 as I had had enough lol

Both are doing relly well and feeding every 3 hours and are a dream to have ( 3 yr old DS is a lot more demanding lol).

I know things will get harder as they get older but right now I am loving being a twin mummy x

mel2005 · 17/08/2009 13:21

congratulations readyfornumber2and3 and welcome. they are really good weights.

having twins is so great, people are always saying double trouble etc and dont believe me that its actually great and i am happy there are two. untilyou have two you dont understand how wonderful it actually is.
anyway i am off to pick up a new printer as my has decided to break.

accessorizequeen · 17/08/2009 20:24

welcome newbie pg ladies since I last checked in (chatterbox - wow!, insanity and toddlerntwins). I'm sure when this thread was started there was a list of who was who with due date/birthdate, area etc. Must fish through and post it again, might take up a whole page!
And congrats to ready on your new additions, welcome to the special world of being a multiple mum
Glad things going so well for your MrsF, pbh and Mel (although not the health issues Mel ). It seems so long ago even MrsF joining the thread much less Mel!

I find coping with the twins a lot easier than having 4 young dc's tbh. Although the mess they create (I've done BLW all the way through) is really really frustrating me! DS2 is having the terrible twos and some for several months now. He was lovely with the dt's to start with, but now I don't trust him as he hurts them so have to lock him/them away whilst I'm doing something. Sigh. This too will pass. School hols have been hideous thus far with constant illness from at least 2 children at once for a month, culminating with dt1 (ds3) struggling to breathe and having to have ventolin last week. Poor lamb,he's fine now. They're 1 next month, can't believe, they're absolutely fab and nothing I love more than getting on the floor and letting both of them climb on top of me.

mel2005 · 18/08/2009 10:17

gosh AQ almost a year old, time certainly does fly! my two are in their learn and grooves which they love to bits. just washed the new school uniform for DS1 who starts in september and had to order smaller trousers from m&s today as the ones i bought in the m&s 3for 2 a couple of months ago are still way to big. just got to sew in name tags to the whole lot and then we should be sorted.
Right, i am off to sort out the veggie patch and clean the chickens out.

Chatterbox1405 · 18/08/2009 10:31

Jennyroper - no cots is the charity that we went thru to do the surrogacy but there is a jenny roper on there that did a surrogacy couple of years ago! lol
i had 2 eggs implanted both fertlised and hatched on our first attempt!
ask any questions at all i dont mind

accessorizequeen - thanks for the welcome

mel2005 · 19/08/2009 08:55

its going to be a hot one today, hats upf50+ sunsuits, suncream, sunglasses, paddling pool and waterslide at the ready for DS1 and DD1!!! load of nappies on the line, littlelife arc 3 for the twins in the shade, a comfy chair and a nice cup of tea for me. i think i am sorted!! just got the get the huge jumper off DS1 he is insisting on wearing, before he overheats.
have a nice day ladies

NotQuiteSoBigBird · 19/08/2009 13:45

Hello ladies, nice to see so much activity and hello/welcome to the newbies. I am unfortunately back at work, just 2 days a week at the moment but back to full time in October. Boooo. Though I must say, it is a lot easier than being a full time mum. And I get more time on MN .

That's not say I'm not missing my little darlings, DD1 is on holiday and being so much better with the babies (except for insisting on carrying them about which takes quite some doing for a 4 yr old - particularly with DS1 who is just massive, I think he must be 12kgs by now, in 12-18 mth clothes). The DTs are 8 months old, DS crawling pretty well but DD2 just dragging herself around. DD2 has already got to work on charming her daddy, he is utterly besotted. DS is an eating machine with the most adorable smile. I know what you all mean about the domestic side of things - non-stop clearing up, washing, bottle and food-making. But I am loving watching how different they are, and how much they interact already.

Hope everyone is well and able to enjoy the sunshine .

LumpyMoo · 20/08/2009 14:38

Hello ladies. New to MN, well I joined many moons ago but the twins arrived, we moved house & got married so time just ran away with me! They're now 15 months old, both walking & into & upto everything... all fun & games

FioHicks · 25/08/2009 14:03

Anyone know how you can find second twin pushchair? They just seem so impossibly expensive!

FioHicks · 25/08/2009 14:03

Soory meant to say second hand

mel2005 · 26/08/2009 19:30

try e-bay, TAMBA or the adtrader. i am a big e-bay bargain fan, but they are getting harder to find . you need to look at the newly listed buyitnows but you have to research the buggies you are looking for so you know if you are getting a good deal. if you do get a bargain but hate it when you get it you can always put it back on e-bay and not lose any money. ask for reviews on buggies on here as there are loads of buggy mad ladies who will tell you really how good they are. what kind of twin are you looking for? off-road mountain type or umbrella fold stroller? side by side or tandem?

Derv78 · 26/08/2009 22:14

Hello everyone,
I'm currently 22 weeks pg with identical twins (have not officially been told the sex, but DH '95%' sure they are boys; he's been watching like a hawk on the 2 weekly scans!). Pregnancy going well so far, & both twins are very active, which is lovley to feel.
Am preparing for bedlam in December, as we already have DD aged 15 months...and she is a RASCAL!! Favourite activities at present are climbing on the sofa (teetering over tile floor) and scribbling with crayons anywhere but on paper.
So, I know already I'm going to have my work cut out for me, but also know it's going to be a lot of fun.
Would be really interested in hearing of other mums' twin experiences, and also chatting to others who are pg with twins. Also hoping to bf the twins (bf DD until a few weeks before she turned 1; teeth were a factor in that decision!), and would love to hear from mums who've managed to successfully bf twins.

MarsLady · 27/08/2009 17:55

Blimey GBB. Where did the time go? And you're back at work as well. I'm in need of some photos please.

Yes, I'm back. Lost the internet for 8 weeks but back again now.

MerryMarigold · 27/08/2009 20:51

Hi all. A quick catch up for those of you who remember me...I haven't been on for aaaaaaages.

Twins are 10 months now. Ds2 has been crawling for a while, is pulling himself to standing and can nearly stand on his own, cruising around a bit. Dd1 just started crawling in a slightly bizarre way, but she is getting around! They're both teething...or being ill. I am soooo tired. Ds2 gets up1-2x per night, but dd1 is a different kettle of fish - 4-5 x at the moment (3 'usually').

Best thing about having twins:

  • seeing them interract. I love that, watching them play together, make each other giggle. Other babies that age don't really play together unless they know each other so well like twins.

Wow GBB, your ds1 sounds MASSIVE! My 2 are fairly petite. dd1 is quite tiny (she probably sleeps too badly to grow!), but quite podgy too...definitely not skinny and so sparkly and sweet. Ds2 is bigger, heavier and much more physically strong.

What are everyone else's 'best bits' of having twins?

mel2005 · 27/08/2009 22:24

i love waking up in the morning and going into their room and they will be looking at each other through the bars in their cots and they will turn to look at be and give me the most enormous smiles, i just melt.

NotQuiteSoBigBird · 27/08/2009 22:33

MARSY, that is so spooky, I've been stalking you today, trying to find you on MN then deciding to email you instead but not getting round to it - and here you are . I'll try and add some photos, but you owe us jelly babies and we owe you lunch, come and see us all.

Mel, I absolutely agree, one of the best things is hearing my DTs chatting and giggling at each other every morning. And they are sooo happy to see me when I get home from work, it melts my heart (and of course makes me feel horribly guilty).

Merry, HELLO to you too, nice to hear from you. My DD2 is also doing weird commando style arm-crawling, but is very efficient. They've just started pinching things from each other, and she definitely thinks it's funnier than him. Sorry to hear the sleep is still an issue, it's a killer. We've had a good stretch recently but it can't last...

Hello to Derv and Lumpy. FioHicks - try Twinstore.co.uk, they have some great 2nd hand buggies on there.

MarsLady · 28/08/2009 19:53

Best DT moments...

Watching them enrapt in a DVD with their limbs entwined.

Listening to them singing in the mornings (then shoving my head back under the pillow).

Being dive-bombed, cuddled and kissed by them in unison.

And fond memories of Toilet Duck... not so fond at the time. lol

MerryMarigold · 30/08/2009 21:55

Bless. Thanks for that Mars...made me smile, looking forward to that. They're already great friends (and enemies!).

galaxymummy · 31/08/2009 09:49

Hi Ladies

My babies are 20 weeks old - where did that time go? I remember posting in the depths of my 6 week despair and AQ saying hers were 23 weeks and weaning - that seemed SOOOO far away! But here we are and I'm looking for some advice/experience:

Has anyone done Baby Led Weaning with their twins? I've done some reading and BLW seems to make sense to me, more so than purees. I bf on demand, so it seems to be a natural next step. However, would be it a huge undertaking with twins? Can I keep bf two on demand for perhaps another 3 - 6 months? Grateful for your thoughts on the benefits and potential problems.

The biggest challenge as far as I can see will be the grannies (bf on demand was enough of an anathema for my MIL; not spoon feeding may push her over the edge!) any tips on how to placate them?
