Hi everyone

I'm hoping to find some support here. I have a DS who is 14 months, fell pg (bit of a surprise but happy) now have just had dating scan and it's MCDA twins (I don't even know what that means!) DH and I were in complete shock. Didn't get an accurate due date but they spoke about c sections and early induction? At the mo EDD still 8th May.

My head is now spinning with the logistics of dealing with newborn twins and a 21 month old burly boy - how do you cope? What pushchair should I get? was gonna get Phil and Teds, do they do one for twins and a toddler? What about beds/cots, should they go in together? moses basket or straight to cot? Can you fit 3 car seats accross the back of the car? (Should DS go in the front?)Am I going to get any sleep between now and their first birthday?

Please please help, I feel so out of my depth and if I'm really honest a bit resentful, then gulity, then teary when I see the scan pics of these 2 tiny people in me - I'm gonna be the size of a house!!!

Hi bella

I like the sound of Double Trouble and Contented House. I'm not a big Gina Ford fan but have pinched the odd tip from her contented little baby book. What did you think of this one - does it help? - is it realistic?

Thanks again for this. I can elec trans the money into your account if you give me the details, or post a cheque, it's entirely up to you.

I did think the Gina Ford one was useful - particularly liked Alice Beer's bits and pieces about her own experience with twins. Routine has been VERY important, I think, in keeping me sane and while I haven't stuck to GF's suggestions religiously, I have found lots there that I wanted to use.

The Double Trouble one was probably my best buy, so glad you're taking it!

I am GUESSING that the 2 of them together will cost a couple of quid. I will try to get to the post office on Monday and find out for sure - if you email me your address I can post them at the same time - assuming the ACTUAL cost is not hugely more than my estimate? My email is [email protected]

Twins ill at the mo so not sure quite when I'll get to post office. Email me your address though and then i can send them off at same time - saves me an extra trip

OK, postage is £2.08. Will await your email!

mum2william, can we hold hands? I've just got back from a scan and have found out we're having twins too. dd is 17 months. I'm terrified and thrilled, all at the same time! due date is end of May 09.

I'm going to search my way through all the wonderful advice that's been posted here for you.

Congratulations mum2william.

I too recently discovered I'm expecting twins - a realbig shock as I wasnt even convinced I was pregnant! I have a 12 month old who will be about 17 months when the twins are due. My ds was born at 32 weeks so keeping my fingers crossed that I can hold on to these a bit longer- although already huge!!
I've not even started thinking about pushchairs as I figure it'll be at least 6 months before I manage to get out of the house with them all!!

jerin · 29/10/2008 20:55

Congrats swerve...

Sorry about the absence, DS went on hol (only to Devon to see my parents), DS starting at nursery and been test driving cars as we'll need a bigger one for when the DT twins come (BTW you can fit 3 stage 2 car seats accross the back seat of a Honda CRV - I tried it!!!)
. Time has literally evaporated!

Bella, thank you so much for sorting things out, hope your DT are better now. Will email address asap.

Swerve and Jerin, congrats on the news I'd love to hold your hands if you hold mine! I'm really quite excited about the whole things now - having been through, shock, denial, anger, guilt, desperation and a whole host of other emotions. Now trying to get logistics sorted out, I know it's still a long way away but as I said before time is literally melting away and I know that I'll blink and it'll be the new year, blink again and they'll be her!!!

Have just seen a new double tandem pushchair, the icandy pear. It can take 2 maxi cosi car seats and is just like a double quinny buzz which I had first time round. Anybody know anything about it? I'm gonna start another thread asking You MN people are so knowledable!!!!!

congratulations

ds1 was 3.3 when dts were born and they are now 19mths and new baby due just as they turn 22 mths

I have a double nipper and it is FANTASTIC and also now have a triple for when I have all 4 children on the school run as at 22 mths they aren't going to be able to walk 1.5 miles and I can't manage a double and a sling due to breathing problems

Mine were heading towards full term when I was induced at 38 weeks (breathing again!) and were 6lb 14oz and 7lb 14oz.

I have girl/boy and they were delivered naturally.

Come on over to the regular thread - they are great. A real family of multiple mums.

Sleep - I'm not answering that one but it does get easier.

Car - just about to change my Picasso (run out of room) and had 3 in the back with the nipper in the boot

They play peek a boo together, comfort each other when one is upset and one will always ask for 'two' of something so they can give one to the other twin.

oooggs · 09/11/2008 19:47

oh and they shared a cot bed until they were 5 mths - photo on profile - bottom one I think

kathryn2804 · 09/11/2008 21:05

They won't necessarily come early!! I was induced at 39 weeks!
