26 weeks pregnant with triplets

hi, i'm new to this but would really love some advice from other multiple parents. i am currently almost 26 weeks pregnant with triplets and am starting to panic a bit now that it's getting closer..

Awww triplets!!! congratulations!!! do you know what sexes they are????? or will they be suprises???? very exciting.

I am a twin mum.....i had 2 sets in fact, was meant to be triplets but one didn't make it early on

Ok... advice....take any help that is offered to you....make up lots of dinners and freeze..you won't feel like cooking!

I know a multi mum of 3 and she is loving it. She did need help with them all at first and got an overnight helper from the local college who came every night or every day to help. She kept a complete diary for each triplet, so baby A ate 200ml, had wee at 1pm, poo at 4pm etc. She said this helped her to keep track of who had done what etcetera.

We have several triplet mums - one of whom has just had twins as well, so we don't see much of her at the moment .

I'll point the others in this direction to give you some words of wisdom. What sort of things are you panicking about? Whereabouts in the country are you - one of us might be close by, you never know .

i use the word sanity very lightly....

Hi special lady! Please dont panic, you have three beautiful babies to look forward to, you will feel so special and clever when they are born! My trio are now 10, A girl and two boys! I just loved every minute of their baby days, toddlers, it is now I am finding it hard work! It is a very good idea to keep a diary. we did on each one for a whole year! There were certainly many times in the night when we had forgotten who had been fed and who hadnt! Where abouts in the country are you, I live in Kent. Just holler all your questions, and dont worry, it will be fine! Do come over to the Dy thread, though you must bring cake and wine and chocolate covered nuts!

I'm the mere mother of twins with 3 older siblings. My wee weapons... but then let me rephrase... wee darlings... are 4.5yrs and they start school in September.

Kelz333!!!! You sound at the exact stage i'm at! I'm 25+2 with triplets myself and like you am starting to think how little time there is left! I'm just trying to relax and keep them cooking until my due date at 34 weeks. Still so much to do though!

Hope you are coping well, my bump is expanding rapidly and I noticed my first stretch marks a few days ago (not happy) but I know everything i'm going through is worth it!

Hi and congratulations! mine are already 2.4 years old, but I do remember as useful in prep/early days:

going to a NICU unit of the hospital where you will have them in order to familiarize yourself with potential stay there.

a helper, especially at night (even if you breastfeed).

any volunteers at all for anything from going shopping to sterilizing bottles.

diary definitely - pees/poos, milk intake, any medicines given, temperatures and so on.

Congrats! My DTS start school this month!

If you do decide to bottle feed. I found the special scoops saved a lot of time (set of formula scoops whereby you only ever need to add one or two scoops rather than say 7 - sorry cant remember name of them) and Podee bottles, for handsfree feeding. Podee is god send when trying to feed more than one at once. My mum was initially horrified 'you dont pick them up to feed them?' but even she came round to it, babies have to really suck as not like the normal bottle 'drip drip' effect so I think they really preferred it, stoped them throwing up so much and milk getting in their ears.
Also found baby swing (automated musical kind) very handy to soothe one, whilst you deal with another.

I haven't been on a lot but had triplet girls in March at 32.5wks.
We bottle fed and went into a 'military schedule' and this really helped. The nurses in the NICU helped with this.
We feed at 8am, noon, 4pm, 8pm now. This also works well with the other two (4 & 2) and getting them out the door and to bed.

When we got the babies home at 36.5wks we didn't cook dinner for a month, and people in the community delivered it which was awesome.

Swing chair is a god send agree with this.
Read tons of books, all the little bits and pieces help but most of them are for twins.

We got this triplet buggy www.abcbuggy.co.nz which is great as it is only 2 wide.

Get as many handme-downs as you can, you'll need tons of clothes.

Good luck, identical will be fun. I read in a book that a good way of dealing with this is to choose 2 colours for each child and only dress each child in those colours so that you can tell them apart. Mine aren't identical so we didn't have that issue.
