Hello all. Bit of an emotional roller coaster of a couple of days for me.

Yesterday had a scan in antental clinic. The operator said she thought it was twins, not trips, but after phoning original sonographer (who is more senior and told her where to look, she found a third baby). Felt relieved! But to be on safe side, she asked me to come into main ultrasound department today to be checked out by 2 senior sonographers on a better machine. So off we trundled, and they all decided it is twins and not triplets.

Feel a bit sad, there is some sense of loss after getting my head round 3, even though it's not like a baby died, just never existed! Also a bit relieved, less complicated pregnancy, easier afterwards etc.

Have you heard of this happening to anyone? I know they can occasionally miss babies, but never heard of them finding exra ones! Sonographers explained you can see the same baby from different angles, so it is possible to think there is more than 1. But the original lady was soooo thorough, it just seems bizarre.

brucelovesfrumpygrumpy · 29/05/2008 20:52

You love me!! Shucks!!!

shabster · 29/05/2008 20:56

Marigold - WOW that is a real rollercoaster! Im sure other mums on here will have more experience on all this than I do. Just wanted you to know that I am thinking about you...

MerryMarigold · 29/05/2008 20:59

Thanks shabs...always so quick with responses, you're amazing!

brucelovesfrumpygrumpy · 29/05/2008 20:59

Oh MM. So sorry to hear of that disappointment. Its like being on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire......winning £125,000 and then dropping down to 'only' £64,000.

Just stay open minded. It sounds like 'they' are still undecided actually. Could there have been three at some point? I hear its quite a regular thing to be pg with twins and never know it, as one set of cells doesn't make it to being more than that and is scooped up within the pregnancy.....just a random thought.

Sorry its been an upsetting day x.

TiggerTonkerTruck · 29/05/2008 21:02

But dingdong I was thinking of you the whole time I was with them

MerryM, what a blikin nightmare!!! You must be very confused and if anything like me a little....but what if they got it wrong again
I really feel for you, thats not a good thing to happen at all

bloody high tec crap!!! Let me tell you a ring dangled over my belly on a bit of string told me more about my babies than a scan ever did

iamdingdong · 29/05/2008 21:02

MM sorry to hear about that, I think LG&T started with triplets adn went down to twins, or did I dream that anyway, twins are fab, I love mine today

TiggerTonkerTruck · 29/05/2008 21:04

FG it is!!!
Thats why I thought I was having twins. There was one little sac with no heartbeat and they said oh it will just fade away nothing to be concerned about

Don't get me started girlfriend!!!!

shabster · 29/05/2008 21:06

Will be back in a bit got to do the bedtime stuff with Tommy.......any requests for Radio Ga Ga? Laters me maters xxxx

MerryMarigold · 29/05/2008 21:12

No, it couldn't have been absorbed. I was 14 weeks and it was 8 cms big! (apparently).

But ya never know till their out I guess. Still feel a bit more relieved. And there's a few more scans to go!

oooggs · 29/05/2008 21:16

marigold what a day, you sit down and have a glass of wine juice - how more emotional can it get? Yes LG&T was having triplets then went onto have twins

hi dingdong - yes ds1 can't wait to start school in September, I'll be a jibbering wreck

fg - such a lifestyle you lead

trips - 24/7 with husband & children????? - bravery award heading your way

shabby - how's Emma feeling today?

Timesofhope · 29/05/2008 21:33

Sorry I havn't been online for a while - have mega stress going on at the moment.

Basically we have to move out cos our landlord intends to sell the flat we are in and its too small for our triplets when they come as well as being up two flights of stairs. We have found a 2 bed flat ground floor 5 mins from my partners family that we can afford each month (just). Problem is my MIL is dead against it and when she found out we wanted to take it she said she was taking away any financial help she was gonna give us to get into the place (deposit and first months rent plus admin fees) and she was going to be guarantor which she has also refused to do now. Shes not talking to us now and won't understand where we are coming from. This is the only place we have seen after weeks of looking and I physically need to settle now cos i'm getting tired and need to start taking it easy.

I thought family were meant to support you, instead she is being very childish because we won't move to where she wants us (next door to her by the way). Me and my partner have very good reasons why we don't want to live next door to his parents but no-one will listen - they are thinking of themselves and not us.

I really don't need the stress and neither does my partner, we are being treated like children ourselves and not allowed to make our own decisions because everyone 'knows better'.

Sorry this is so long, just needed to vent my spleen.

triplets · 29/05/2008 21:33

Shabs, hadf a fab supper drank three glases of wine to H`s one, listening to my own radio ga ga!
Marigold....I was 5 weeks preg with ivf twins when they founf number 3, hiding behind a clot!

Ps, Has anyone seen dingdong?

MerryMarigold · 29/05/2008 21:40

have been wondering how you were doing timesofhope. MIl does sound a bit selfish. Is there no-one in your family could act as a guarantor? You definitely don't need stress now or after you have the babies, so it doesn't sound like living nextdoor to the IL's would be a good idea! Hope it resolves itself. Definitely don't let her emotionally blackmail/ manipulate you. Can you dh have a word with her about the fact your really don't need stress right now, and need to be humoured, otherwise babies are being put at risk ie. SHE is putting them at risk. Let her have a bit of emotional back!
