Those with older twins, do they play with toys for longer than singletons

This might just be my dc but I’ve noticed dd1 grew out of most toys and creative play early in secondary. She carried on in year 7 but that was lockdown and she had younger sisters.

dtd 1&2 are now 13, nearly 14. This morning they’ve played cluedo followed by rediscovering the trampoline and finally playing with baby dolls (found in the garage). They’re now back on their phones. If friends were here there’s no way they would play dolls but with each other they can be honest if they want to play without embarrassment they’d feel admitting to friends. So I was wondering, as twins live with their play mate, do they tend to play at an older age compared to non twins?

My twin girls are 8, nearly 9, and spend approximately 97% of their time trying to kill each other and rarely play make-believe. Maybe it's a twin thing, maybe that's just the way your daughter's are? I'll be interested to hear others replies too.

My twins are 10 and they still do quite a lot of imaginative play. They do a simulator which seems to be a make up a story together. Trampoline, giant spinny swing in the garden , they like a board game and play a lot of chess but also stuff like guess who. They have a giant bag of duplo that gets dragged out and played with regularly. They do love screen time and I have to limit it otherwise I don’t think I’d get them h to I do anything else.

I do I think (or at least in our case)being a twin means you ,nearly, always have a willing playmate. There’s a fair amount of negotiation around what to do first but they tend to sort it out themselves.

Mine are grown now and no I don’t recognise this. Isn’t it maybe cause they just have a playmate of the right age? Mine would all play with toys when they had friends over.
