OMG! It's triplets!!!

Last friday I had my first ultrasound and it's triplets!! First pregnancy after several years of infertility and (quite surprisingly) just one round of IUI. We are shocked. We were praying for twins in case (me being 37 and with infertility issues) couldn't conceive again. But THREE??!!

I read all the triplets threads on here, but still have so many questions and I can't find the answers online. They booked me to have an specialist appointment in the high risk pregnancy unit (translating from my language, I am outside UK) but they haven't called me yet.

Could I ask for some parents of triplets to tell me something about your experience with the whole process? I can do with any information, and I don't mind if you're blunt, quite the contrary, I would like to tell me the scary bits too.

For example: How big am I going to be? Did they doctors told you about risks and what were they? At what week did you give birth? How was the birth? Did you have any complications? Were your children ok? How are they now? What about the car?! And the stroller?! And how will they sleep when babies? Three cots? Honestly, tell me anything even if you think it will be irrelevant!!

On the plus side of all this, I'm quite enjoying telling people and observing the shock on their faces. I must be very stupid, because I know they are shocked for me and my future life, but, don't ask me why, it's being really fun to see.

Thanks all! 💖Babies are doing so good, they are already out of nicu and in an area in the hospital where they only need to gain weight. Everything looks perfect on paper but the truth it's that yesterday and today I haven't been able to stop crying. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I feel the worst mother in the world. Every mistake I make with the babies I can't stop thinking about it.
Today I wanted a picture of my baby who were with the eyes open, but I didn't realised I had the camera flash activated so I hurted my baby's eyes and she started crying. I feel so bad. Even if it's my husband doing the mistake I can't stop obessing over it and replying in my mind.

Also they are 3, and the time with each one of them it's so little that I can't make up for those mistakes. This is so hard.

You are doing very well.

It is very, very stressful having babies in NICU/special care.

It is also normal to have a bit of a hormone crash on day 3. I remember crying my eyes out all night with DS1, in hospital, and then over the breast pump with DTs, when I knew what it was about, but I still had to do it!!

Take care of yourself and get lots of good sleeps in before those babies come home 🫂

Congratulations!!
Baby's eyes will be fine. Mistakes are how we learn and my kids have survived many 😂
It's an emotional rollercoaster for you now and I remember crying so much when my babies (just twins) were born and it's exhausting but you get through it. Such a blessing and I'm so pleased they've arrived happy and healthy and 32w is blooming impressive! Enjoy every moment x

The hormone crash and continual sobbing is completely normal. I remember being in floods because I accidentally brought a 6 month vest with me (I misread the label) and felt like an utter failure. It will pass, and you and your babies will get to know each other.

Many, many congratulations!

LameBorzoi · 05/07/2025 08:12

You are having the hormone crash! For most women it should get better soon.

WinterCarlisle · 05/07/2025 08:28

Oh HUGE congratulations!! This is lovely news! Muy bien! (My only Spanish 😆) x

Myfridgeiscool · 05/07/2025 08:39

Congratulations OP!!!
This is lovely news. Have you decided on any names?

TayceOnToast · 05/07/2025 09:02

Congratulations ❤️ you are doing a great job

Kiwithecat · 05/07/2025 10:22

Oh wow!! I have no idea this hormone crash existed. I thought something was wrong with me!! I've been reading this morning about it and I feel so much better 😅 Thank you so so much for this

As for the names, yes we've named them already. None of my MIL crazy suggestions, of course. She actually likes our chosen names, her only complaint is she doesn't like the variant we have chosen for one of them (very normal and used one, she just preferred the other one) and she's saying she's going to call the baby the other way. I really don't care at all. As long as she loves the child is the only important thing.

I really wish I could tell you the names and show you pictures of my babies but, of course, it would be unwise. I can describe them for you, though: they're the most beautiful babies in the world 😁

Of course they are! I wouldn’t expect anything else Smile

Such wonderful news; congratulations!

Blueskies3 · 12/07/2025 10:57

Yes completely normal to feel the blues afterwards with the massive hormone crash and you. have had enough hormones etc to support three little humans, plus tiredness doesn't help. I can only imagine how sweet your little three must be. You are very lucky, and also because you are lucky you are unique and not many people would understand the ups and downs of raising triplets, so reach out to the multiple mums
