Car seats/car help!

Hi all!

We have recently found out we’re having twins! Absolutely over the moon and delighted however now the practicalities have started to come into my head, what car/car seats does everyone have?

The issue being DS1 will only be 14 (possibly 13 months) when the twins are born and I have no idea what second stage car seat she will need as well as the two car seats for the newborns. We currently have the Cybex spin seat and love it would happily buy another one but how do we fit all these seats in? Currently own a Q3 which I know won’t fit much and willing to upgrade. Any advice very appreciated!

We had to get a Ford s max when our twins were due due to having an older DD too. This car has 3 full size seats in the back. Which all move individually. Our car only has isofix on the outside seats and not the middle (newer models may have isofix on all 3 seats). We also test drove a Peugeot 5008 and whilst this has 3 seats in the back they are smaller than the s max. In terms of car seats I would strongly recommend having car seats you can take in and out of the car with twins.

Thank you! I’ll look into both of these and get see which would be a better option. I love the Cybex because we could lift it in and out and also post section rotating seat was a godsend so atleast it could still be an option.

I'm not sure if you will manage to spin them with 3 car seats in though. As when you spin it comes over the middle seat

Our son was 1 when our twins were born (but a couple of months off 2). We bought a ford s-max. Ours has 3 isofix pts (it’s a 2016). Also looked at the Peugeot 5008, which is more stylish (well from 2018 up I think), but I couldn’t justify the cost for a car that I hadn’t planned/wanted to buy. There are a couple more cars with 3 full seats and 3 isofix pts but they’re limited.

We already had the cybex cloud z, which sounds like what you’re describing. We went with 2 cloud z’s, and one cybex sirona for the toddler (so 3 of the base z’s as they fit both). The seats only have space to partially turn now but it’s still helpful. I believe maxi cosi etc also now offer swivelling first stage seats.

Congrats! And get ready to hear “you have your hands full” 50 millions times 😂

Donimo has a good point about the middle seat, unless you go for a car you can put a car seat on the third row, you'll have trouble turning the seats with one in the centre.

I would look at an Axkid Move or Minikid for your DD or possibly even look at Multimac as they are all so close together - but not sure if you can get three Minimacs into one at once. Unless she is very tall, she should fit into the baby seat for a while and not need to be moved forward facing. The other thing to bear in mind is you do lose pram compatability when doing it that way which might be annoying.

Maybe look at the Avionaut seats and a buggy which will take 2x car seats so they are light to lift and you can click into the buggy wheels to move them both at once while having a hand free for DD or possibly even a buggy board. The Avionaut baby seats fit on any pram which will take a Maxi Cosi or Cybex baby seat.
