Ntr completely but I am extremely frustrated and feel very let down by the hospital and the care in was given so I just need some advice.
Almost 13 weeks ago I had my twins. They were born via emergency c-section 10 weeks early. The surgeons had a very difficult extraction with the twins, one I believe was pulled out via forceps and came out extremely bruised. Due to that I asked to be put under general as I was quite frankly freaking out about the discomfort I was feeling (biggest fear of mine was and have been with my 3 singleton births is a c-section) anyways, once under general they had difficulty intubating, this lead to them putting the tube to far down, pulling it up to readjust to the correct placement, this is turn lead me to vomit, then aspirate which then lead to aspiration pneumonia and two collapsed lungs, from their I ended up in ICU.
Since having c-section my bleeding after was bare minimal, very little bleeding but lasted almost 4 weeks, exactly 4 weeks after the section I had my first period. Now this period was unlike anything I had ever seen before, I was soaking through the thick MATERNITY pads within an hour, was extremely dizzy and the pain was horrible, and my period instead of last 6 days lasted 12, with some spotting in between periods. Fast forward to the second pp period and it was exactly the same except the dizziness was worse. I phoned 111 and got myself an out of hours gp appointment and was out on some medication to help slow the bleeding and ease the pain. I was told to make a gp appointment so they could refer on to gynaecology for further tests. Well the gp first sent me for an ultrasound and blood test, I got my results of my ultrasound today and he told me I have retained placenta in my womb which he thinks is the reason for the excessive bleeding and prolonged periods not to mention the excruciating pain I’m in when on to.
I should also state that I was had two courses of strong antibiotics after delivery for the pneumonia and then about a week or two later was prescribed the same strong antibiotics because they were under the impression something was wrong with my scar due to how much pain I was still in after and how extremely swollen I still was almost 2 weeks later.
Am I right in thinking that the surgeons should’ve checked me over fully to ensure nothing was left behind? And is this something i should be taking further. I’m already in the process of complaining to PALS due to all the complications of the intubation during the section, should I be looking into medical negligence? I’m just suffering a lot still 12 weeks later and have just been prescribed more medication for PTSD due to everything that happened.
Sorry for the long post and I really appreciate any advice you can give me!🤍
