Weight gain during first trimester?

Hi ladies,

First time mum-to-be expecting twins in October! I'm at 11 weeks and already gained 3 kgs (6.6 lbs). I read that the average is up to 2 kgs / 4 lbs.

I know no one size fits all but I can feel it affecting me, I feel heavy and my lower back hurts. But I'm so hungry all the time and I had a week where I ate so much and now I can't seem to lose that stubborn 1kg! I'm also worried it will make the rest of the pregnancy uncomfortable.

Can you ladies share your experience with weight gain during first trimester and overall pregnancy? Any tips welcome!

Thanks

@millybreezy no expert advice over here but I'm 7 weeks 4 days with twins and have gained 3lbs so far. You're not alone x

I don’t remember my exact gain in the first trimester, but I’ve had a singleton and a twin pregnancy. In my twin pregnancy I had gained the same weight in my singleton one (I reached 38+5) by around week 26. I gained a couple of stones with the singleton and more like 3.5 with the twins.

I tried not to worry too much about the gain, you need the extra calories and nutrients when you’re making two babies! I just listened to my body.

I had to work harder to get the weight gain off after the twins, but that might have been because I wasn’t breastfeeding.
