Weaning twins- please help!!

We have two 6 month old twins and have started the weaning journey. To be honest I was really excited about this stage, both babies feed (formula) 3 hourly and it had got a bit cumbersome for us all so I was hoping the food would break it up a bit for us!

However the reality has been very different.

I initially started them off with purées but that descends into chaos as neither have the patience to wait the matter of seconds it takes for me to put a spoon in the other ones mouth before they start screaming the house down and the whole thing turns into a complete nightmare with both screaming their heads off.

So I thought I'd try them on some finger foods so that they could feed themselves a little but quickly this ends up the same way as they end up frustrated very quickly.

I am on my own all day every day so feeding them separately isn't really an option as we try and keep their sleep routines in sync.

Any other parents out there with some nuggets of wisdom please throw them my way?!Daffodil

Unfortunately you just need to persevere, have finger foods for both and a bowl of puree etc. I don't remember mine being bad but there was a LOT of theatrical chatting.

I had a bag of toy plastic food so would have them in their high chairs and give them some to play with and also meant their hands were distracted so less likely to swat the spoon away and into my hair. Or give them a plastic spoon to hold

Persevere with the purées - I'd say they are still a bit young for finger foods yet and are probably getting frustrated with them

I'd definitely try BLW. There's a group on fb for advice.

I don't have any advice but my twins are 7 months and mealtimes fill me with dread. They are getting better with their food but they're still feeding 3 hourly too so it's just more to do and fitting everything in feels like a military operation. Just to say, you're definitely not alone!

I remember this post from when I was pg with twins. I'm now here and having basically the exact same experience as the OP, lol. After one week of thinking food is yucky my twins are now screaming banshees convinced I'm trying to starve them. BLW seems the only way but god I'm dreading the mess 😨

@Hanna86 I am at the same stage as you. I have 7 month old twins who were premature so only really pushed weaning over the past few weeks. Have you tried toys whilst feeding. I have a selection of toys to hand over to the girls whilst feeding. Also my 3 year old manages to keep them occupied by singing at them during meal times

Get some bibado bibs!! That is my 1st recommendation 😅😅. Also don't @ me but our dining room/lounge was open plan so the highchairs ended up facing the TV.
You've just got to do what you've got to do to get thru it
They used to love frozen mango, that kept them occupied for ages!!
Much sympathies and it does get better 🥰
