Any one got any positive natural birthing stories for delivering twins. Don't want any intervention but am being hassled to have epidural etc as standard. Fourth pregnancy, three boys already and don't want a c-section.

Hi Splish

Lots of positive natural birthing stories for delivering twins from the multiple mums who post on here. Come and join us - Marslady bakes lemon drizzle cake, LG&T bakes bounty cake and we'll plump up the cushions for you .

I did have an elective CS for my DTs, but had I gone into spontaneous labour before the agreed date, my consultant was quite happy for me to attempt a natural birth.

Will link the girls into this thread too, so you get lots of answers.

hi splish and congrats. My g/b twins are 9 mths and I had them naturally after induction at 38 weeks (by choice) and had an epidural (by choice), but was told that if I didn't and there was a problem I was looking at theatre and a general.

They were 6lb 14oz & 7lb 14oz and have a big brother who is 4.

there are many fantastic ladies who can give you some great advice

If you mean natural as in not CS, my twins were done and dusted in 9 hours (about 45 mins between them) with only entinox and pethidine. (Sorry ooggs, no nasty needles coming near me - something seems very wrong with voluntarily letting someone stick a needle in your spine - YUK). Don't give in if an epidural is not what you are comfortable with, as there are other methods (could you use a tens machine? I have heard good things about them).

Oh, and if you wanted to know, they went the full term and an extra day before they decided to make their appearance, so don't believe everyone who tells you they will be early. Not necessarily!

hi and cpngratulations. Can't help much as mine were breech so I had a section but I second tkband - come and join us on the other thread, lots of us have had natural deliveries.

Leoloopydoo · 12/01/2008 20:41

Splish, I had an em cs with ds1 and fought to get agreement to have a natural birth with the dts. It was agreed on the condition that there were no extra risks. Unfortunately one of the dts turned in the few days before I went into labour and as I had had a previous cs they percieved it as too much risk and I had a cs. If they won't agree to let you do what you want then find another hospital/consultant or whatever that has the experience to let you do what you want. I think if they are being overcautious and pressurising you then they don't have the experience to support a birht wiht no intervention.
There are lots of mums on our regular thread that have had vbs.

PazzaPlusTwo · 15/01/2008 21:00

Hi Splish

I'm also due twins in May - how cool is that - 2 girls, do you know what flavour yours are yet? I was SO not going to find out, but curiosity got me in the end and I'm so pleased.

I had the same questions about CS/VB - didn't really find an answer yet. I also looked at home birth but couldn't find even one independent midwife in/near London with twins experience and who is around at the time (I called at least a dozen - every one I could find a reference to).

Hope to stay in touch over the coming months. Where are you based? I'm in Hackney (NE London).

Hi pazza have you tried jane evans she works with mary cronk or lyn walcott

MarsLady · 19/01/2008 23:13

Hi splish!

My consultant was keen on me having a vb but the my wee weapons of mass destruction were a transverse (sideways) lie with a presenting cord. Was gutted but had a planned c-birth.

Come join us on the d'y ever threads as linked by tkb!

You don't have to have an epi if you don't want one.

shabster · 19/01/2008 23:18

Had twins in 1981!! They were only detected 10 days before they were born (at 38 wks) oh for routine scans - i was x rayed! I had pre eclampsia but knowing what I know now I would have said no to epidural - had to have one because blood pressure was ridiculous. Think it is quite hard to make a birth plan because so much depends on the circumstances at delivery etc. As long as the twins are delivered safely, by whatever means, thats all that matters. Will be thinking about you - it is ace being a twins mumxxxxxxx

MarsLady · 19/01/2008 23:19

shab.... come join us. Give us hope! lol

shabster · 20/01/2008 00:58

hi marslady - give you hope - wish i could. twins are interesting. being pregnant and not knowing you are carrying twins is weird - just think how i could have 'milked it' if i had known. I could have sighed, rubbed my belly, etc etc.

All mums who have what are now routine scans are so lucky. When I went on to have two singletons it seemed like a doddle.

I spent a lot of time crying and moaning - i am sure about that. Life has been interesting, often crap, but interesting. I would be honoured to be part of the twin stuff on mumsnetxxxx

shabster · 20/01/2008 01:01

Also I want to say that without my dear, dear friend - 'Triplet' who first introduced me to mumsnet I wouldnt still be here, almost normal and still laughing. Triplet is just ace. Thank you triplet, you old trout, sagapo (greek for i love you) shabba

Hi Splish and Pazza,

I am new to the board and having twins (boy/girl) in May and see from this thread that you are both expecting twins in May as well so though I would message here rather than starting a fresh thread - there are so many!

Just wondered when in May you are both due. I'm having mine by c- section in just under 3 weeks time.

Pazza, like you I am London based (Walthamstow).

My ankles are like balloons and finding it really hard to get sleep as boy twin is really pushing up against my ribs - pretty painful at times.

I just wondered how you both and anyone else expecting twins soon (April/May/June) is getting on.
