Morning, I have DS's 11 months, crawling (ish). Does anybody have any play ideas - I sing with them (until they crawl off), read and build blocks & cups for them to knock down, but a quite a lot of the time they seem happy to play together with their mountain of plastic christmas gifts or under the curtains.

Would love some more ideas (which I can join in with!)

its great they play together! I found my ds (still does) loved playing with my pots and pans, give him a wooden spoon to bang with. Also at that age gave him fat crayons to draw with.

Making shakers, use an empty bottle or something and fill with rice or lentils. Also (v messy) but would fill little pots with raw pasta and things like that and he likes the textures.

They are happy! I'd be tempted to sit near them with a cuppa

Otherwise, just anything. A tray with odd stuff from the cupboard. A box with junk (toilet roll tubes and old cereal boxes). A duvet spread over the floor and some cushions underneath to make tiny hills. Old magazines. Safe mirrors. Bring each thing out at different times.

My DD1's favourite game was empyting my wallet.

I've discovered a fab book called Fun Start by June Oberlander. I has an activity a week from birth to 5 years old. All activities are meant to maximize your baby's potential. All the activities are great fun. My twins are now 21 weeks old and we've been working through the book since they were 10 weeks. Really helps me as a first time mum.
