Carriers for twins

If you carried your twins, what did you use?

With my eldest (singleton) I used a stretchy wrap till she was 6 months and then a structured one. If I carry my twins in the stretchy one they punch each other and often end up banging heads after a little while!

Any recommendations? There’s usually a sling library, but it’s obviously closed at the moment so I can’t go and try out before buying.

Not a twin mum but these are the ones that my twin mum friend loves

Initially she did just use a stretchy wrap with one on either side. She also used to have individual ring slings and would wear 2 ring slings together to get a variety of different wear.

The other one for little babies is this one

Then there is a mini monkey, wearmybaby.co.uk/product/minimonkey-twin-carrier/ which allows them to be both round the front

The ones where one is at front and the other at the back need decent head control so aren't suitable from birth.

The ultra trendy one seems to be the naked panda duo

However she didn't end up buying it due to the cost and it was always sold out. She settled on this one as liked that you could wear as two individuals.

Turns out I can remember a lot more about this than I thought! I do remember her saying that she didn't like the hip carrying options as she felt too wide

It all sounds very nice, but good grief, what about the effect carrying 2 babies has on your back? I guess there may be times when you’d need to carry both at the same time though?

@Barcodes thank you, that’s very detailed and helpful!

@Soontobe60 I don’t intend to carry them great distances, 14kg is a fair amount of weight to be schlepping around! But where we park our car is about 200m from the house, so when I’m doing school run for our older child I have to carry the twins in their car seats. It’s really ungainly! I’d much rather have them in a carrier. Then when we get to school it’s 150m uphill from the school car park to the front gate where I leave DD (and she’s not old enough to go alone as it involves crossing a road, if a small one). There’s a lovely playground near our house as well, and I’d much rather carry them out the front door than get the double pram out as that has to go out the back door and round the block so it’s a much greater distance to the park. So basically it’s short distances, if I had a singleton I’d just pop them on my hip, but I can’t do that with twins!
