Hi twinny mums! Anyone else had a hernia following twinny pregnancy? I've been told that I've got a "rectus sheath divercation". It can be operated on but it means no more babies after that... My stomach is still looking so rubbish after ten months (dts ten months old today! yay!) Big decisions for big stomachs... Anyone had this, and the operation? - it's when the two sides of your stomach muscles don't go back together btw so you still get the ridgy thing like a dolphins back running down your tummy when you try to sit up in the bath - and your belly button occasionally vanishes into the gap. ew!

Thanks drinkBLOOD! Still trying to find out more information... The consultant won't look at it till January - seems like AGES. And that's before you get on the waiting list for any operation. Still would love to know more about it and so far can't find much on internet etc... Thanks again, will let you know!

Hi Accordiangirl. DTs are 8 months now. I also have this. In the mornings my intestines pop out of the hole in the middle . I've been told (at my 6week check) that I will need an operation to correct it but I'm not rushing. I am trying to do exercises to improve it, but it doesn't seem to be helping at all. I actually have strong stomach muscles (had a perfect flat stomach before twin pregnancy), they are just in the wrong place!!!!

I haven't discussed the details of this with anyone yet but have considered that it may mean no more children. I'm not 100% sure about that yet.

If I want to go somewhere and not feel really selfconcious about it I have bought some magic knickers - some big support knickers that go right up to my bra line and hold everything in place.

I feel really bad about it, very self conscious (especially as I have been asked if I am pregnant again ), actually I am quite obsessed with it. I guess knowing I'm not the only one that feels like it helps.

Hi Leolady, sorry not to have responded sooner, somehow I don't seem to have time to get on here so often, can't think why... We don't think we want to do any more babies, our hands are full! I've been exercising too - pilates actually, which is helping me stand up straighter and improving back but not making belly exactly smaller. It is a horrible feeling - mine too was flat before pregnancy... I'm looking into this some more anyway, may go private...

hi Accordiangirl. I also don't get on here very often so I didn't miss that you hadn't replied!
I've also been doing some pilates, you know you have to be careful with osme exercises not to make it worse (full situps can make it worse I think).

I hope to see my doctor about it before the end of the year. I'm definitely going to do something about it even if it means increasing the mortgage and going private ! I'll keep you up to date about it!

Yeah me too! I'm making some calls this afternoon, I'll let you know if I find someone good. BTW if you don't want to go private and are happy to wait, the GP has referred me to the big hospital, but the appt is months away and I'm afraid of being sewn up gardening string like they did when I had some surgery before...

I'm in switzerland so the whole set up is a bit different here. But I will also pick my doctor very carefully (due to the health insurance we have to have here - if they pay - I won't have to pay any more if I go private or public). I'm just going ot see what my doctor says first.

I know someone (but not well) who had a belly button hernia fixed, I'm going to try to find out who she went to see, I'm guessing he is very good.
