Did you have a gut instinct that you where having twins ? What where your main pregnancy symptoms ?

The reason I ask is I have two children already a boy and a girl and although pregnancy symptoms where there in the first trimester when I was pregnant with them it's nothing like this time round (I am 7 weeks +3 days ) and I've never felt so ill in my whole life . Nothing like the past two pregnancy's . I am so poorly the sickness has been here since day 1 it doesn't go away any time of day or night , I have hot sweats, I ache all over , everything smells and tastes horrible , bad heartburn , ribs hurt , stomach is really bloated . And I feel absolutely vile . Hoping to feel better in the coming weeks fingers crossed . So wondering if this could be a multiple pregnancy . Obviously I know I won't know till the first scan . But just wanted to know people experiences .

I found out I was having twins at my 12 weeks scan. In hindsight, the signs were a very strong pregnancy test (second line stronger than control line) on first day of missed pregnancy and also suffered with sickness from like 5 weeks. This was my first and only pregnancy so I had nothing to compare it against.

Congratulation @TwinMum89 . I bet it was a shock finding out you where having two :)

I was convinced I was having two in this pregnancy and I was panicking about it. Very nauseous all the time, bloated and feeling huge. Nothing like I was with my DS. Had an early scan (7 weeks) this morning due to bleeding and there is definitely only one in there. Made them search thoroughly to be sure!

There's a larger multiples community on the What To Expect boards and the consensus amongst the parents there is very much "the only reliable indication of a twin pregnancy is a scan".

In my experience, it's true. My first pregnancy was a singleton, my second pregnancy started as triplets and I miscarried one, so ended up with twins. But both pregnancies, I got my BFP at 11DPO and the strength of the line was exactly the same both times, and the pregnancy symptoms were far stronger with the singleton! Horrendous sickness first time around - pretty mild second time!

Hey OP I started this thread when I first became pregnant! I just knew from the beginning! Good luck & I hope you get the outcome you wish for 😘

@TwinMum89 exactly same here! I had a blazing positive at 10dpo too. Skipped 2-3 weeks on the clearblue digi and went straight ti 3+ within a few days of each other. I had use of a Doppler during my pregnancy and often used it every few days between 8 weeks and my first scan at 12 weeks. One day around 10 weeks I picked up the heartbeat towards the bottom left of the tummy and then I heard it again at the right side. I thought to myself gosh that must be a really strong heartbeat to hear it at both sides. Never did it dawn on me that it was 2 separate ones! Grin

I'm 11 weeks with twins and have zero symptoms- nothing. I was in maternity wear by 8 weeks which would have been a give away but I found out at 6 weeks (IVF)

Most of the people in the twin groups I'm part of
Had less/similar symptoms to when they had a single baby

So symptoms don't really mean anything

The only thing that made me initially think/joke that we were having twins was that I got a positive test at 9dpo. I had bloods taken at 5/6weeks pregnant and again my HCG was very high so my husband and I kept jokingly saying about there being more than one. My mum kept saying it was two. I have a text i sent her saying I was 95% sure its only one - how wrong i was!
I had an early scan at 7+4weeks and that's when we found out it was in fact twins! I will never forgot before the sonographer turned on the big screen she turned to me and said 'so is this an IVF or natural pregnancy' and i said 'oh my god there is more than one isn't there' 'yep there is two' and she switched on the screen to two little peanuts with flickering heartbeats. I made her thoroughly check there were only 2!

I became nauseous at 6/7weeks and my morning sickness kicked in at 8 weeks. I ended up with Hyperemesis and was hospitalised twice as i threw up every minute of the day. I lost 2 stone in the first 12weeks as I couldnt keep anything (even water) down.
I was told it was so bad due to the high levels of HCG.

Had i not had an early scan i think i would have guessed something was up by 12 week scan.

@Springawake are you expecting twins or a singleton? Wondered if you had had your scan yet? x
