Some reassurance please?

Hello! I’m roughly 7 weeks pregnant with (most likely) fraternal twins. Different sacks and far from each other. We saw heartbeats at 6 weeks and measuring just about right.
I have had 4 miscarriages (3 before heartbeat detected and one because of Turners syndrome discovered at 12 week scan).

We are over the moon to be pregnant but i am terrified of miscarrying. Can someone please give me reassurance? I had a baby in 2017 and all went well but I’m still finding it difficult to believe I might actually bring these babies home ❤️ Do vanishing twins normally occur before heartbeats? Or is it quite common for two heartbeats to be seen and then one or both of them to die? If you lost a twin after 6 weeks were there already concerns (growth wise etc) or did they look happy and healthy?

I realise there’s absolutely no point worrying as I can’t change the outcome. But it’s soooo hard ❤️❤️

I have no advice as my twins were discovered at my first scan at 13 weeks but I carried and delivered two healthy girls who will be 8 soon.

Thank you so much, thanks for responding ❤️ That’s lovely, wish I only found out at 13 weeks 😅 Although I was already expecting twins from my first positive because of the extreme nausea. Still, you don’t really believe it til you see two beans on screen 🥰

So sorry to hear about the losses you've had. No wonder you're nervous! But the odds are in your favour (only a 1 in 5 chance of vanishing twin syndrome, vs 4 in 5 chance everything will be ok) and the heartbeat and measurements are both very good signs.

I don't know the typical timescales, but I had a vanishing triplet and it was clear by my 7 week scan that it hadn't made it. I'd already been having miscarriage symptoms (had no idea it was a multiples pregnancy at that point, so wasn't sure if I was even still pregnant!) and the scan showed a smaller sac and no heartbeat.

@Hopingfor2021 I'm in a similar position as you.

Im nearly 8 Weeks pregnant with twins after a MC in march (and many years of infertility and Ivf to get my DD who is 19 months). I had an early scan at 6 weeks which showed only one heartbeat and then another scan at 8 weeks which showed both heartbeats but put me a week behind.

I'm so worried that one or both will have stopped growing by the next scan. The stress is awful.

Hi @Quail15 as much as I am fortunate enough that I can't relate to your losses and fertility, I can understand your worry with your twins. I am expecting ID twins I was scanned at 10+6 and saw two babies both hearts beating, they didn't measure everything due to the gestational age so have to go back (not until 14+1 unfortunately - I'm currently 12+2) but I'm so worried something is going to happen between now and then and I'm going to be walking around thinking I'm pregnant with two babies and to find out something has happened to one or both of them :( as mine are sharing a placenta I think if something happens to one it will affect the other? Although not 100% sure, they gave me lots of information at the first app 😳.
I'm constantly looking out for miscarriage signs and when I go to the toilet I dread seeing blood 😔.
I have my fingers crossed that everything for you will be just fine and you will feel relieved at your next scan! Sending positive thoughts xx

@emma911030 thank you so much for your kind words. Unfortunately I started spotting at the weekend and stopped 'feeling pregnant'. I had an emergency scan this morning which confirmed my worst fears of a MMC - both of my twins stopped developing at 9+4 weeks ☹️

Congratulations!! I found out I was having twins at 6 weeks due to a heavy bleed. I went on to have bleeding, some light some very heavy, up to 18 weeks and spent the entire pregnancy terrified!! But I delivered my boys perfectly safe and well at 37 weeks and they are now big bouncing 2 year olds going through the terror toddler phase It is a scary time, and you wont relax until you have them in your arms but there are lots happy endings for difficult pregnancies, so do what you can to be kind to yourself and keep hopeful even when it's hard. I will keep everything crossed for you, good luck with your pregnancy!

I’ve got twins. I had a scan at 9 weeks and at this scan the dr told me it would be quite rare to miscarry after this point if everything seemed ok then.

I had 3 miscarriages last year, and recently found out we are pregnant with twins. I already have twins from a previous relationship so i know what to expect. However, i totally understand your worries about this pregnancy. I am the same. We had a scan and I was 9 weeks 6 days going off first day of last period. Both babies measuring around 10 weeks, both with heart beats, although 1 looked stronger than the other.
I am now 10 +5 and so worried i don't know if i 'feel' pregnant or anxiety has taken over. I feel like i want to be hooked up to a scanning machine to check on them all the time.
