One twin smaller and high PI

Looking for some reassurance from anyone that's experienced similar. Expecting dcda twins and twin 2 is measuring smaller than twin 1. Had a scan at 30+2 today and twin 1 is 13lb 4oz and twin 2 is 2lb 13oz. Twin 2 also has a high PI (over 95th centile) so I'm back for that to be checked on next week. It was high a couple of weeks ago and then normal the week after. I'm worried because twin 2 is just below the 5th centile. Any advice?!

My twins are nearly three months now and were born at 34 weeks, twin 1 was 3lb 7.5 and twin 2 was 5lb 10. We knew there was a size discrepancy from fairly early on but not the extent. They both were in NICU for a couple of days but aside from that are completely good and thriving. My waters broke on the Friday and I had an antenatal appointment the following Wednesday, the midwives said if they had detected the size difference on the growth scan they would have been delivered immediately.

I think they'll be offering you weekly scans from now to make sure both twins are still growing and the size difference isn't increasing, and they will be constantly monitoring the best solution for babies. Try not to panic, I know it's hard.

If it's any consolation they can also be wrong about sizes, they guessed my daughter would be 8lb 2 and she was actually 6lb 7, so they're not always completely accurate.

They will probably ideally want babies to stay in a bit longer, but they will absolutely not take any risks and if it's best to get them out that's what will happen, try to stay calm because there isn't anything you can do to change it and you can make yourself ill with stress. Also don't worry about asking questions at your appointments, sending you good thoughts and hugs FlowersCakeBrew

Forgot to mention twin one was 2nd centile and has since jumped and remained on 9th centile (25th corrected for prematurity). We've nicknamed him scrappy and it suits Smile
