not showing at 15 weeks

I'm getting slightly worried as I'm 15 weeks and not really showing! I'm tall and quite sporty also, never had ms so no weight loss in early days. Have the tiniest bump, some days when I feel big-fat-bloated the belly is bigger but when I feel 'normal', it's gone. What's going on? Had my 12 week scan and they were happily jumping about with strong heart beats.
Should I be worried?

I know ds wasn't a multiple birth but I didn't have any sort of bump until i was 5 1/2 months and he came out a rather healthy 101lss! If they look happy on the scan just feel smug that you still look great!

ConnorTraceptive · 03/07/2007 08:37

that should say 10 pounds

Some people show early, some people don't. You'll probably find that you'll get to around 18 weeks and then pop out. If you're worried, have a chat with your MW.

Surfnicky · 03/07/2007 22:37

I didn't really start to show (and even then it wasn't noticeable to people other than close friends and family) until about 17/18 weeks. Now I'm 26+3 and am still not very big according to most people - although I tend to disagree!!

I say, enjoy it while you can, as I've been assured by everyone from my mum to colleagues at work that towards the end I will be HUGE!

Idobelieveinfairies · 03/07/2007 22:42

Good strong tummy muscles keeping everything in, don't worry it will happen!!!!!!!!

My friend didn't really show with her twins till nearly 20 weeks. It was her first pg. So not all twin pgs show early.

IME tall people don't tend to show anything like as much either.

Thank you all! I suppose we are all different and it's down to individual body shape etc. as to when we'll balloon out. Last night the bump was definitely there, hard and bumpy. Tends to start showing in the late afternoon which is a strange phenomena?
On a different and quite grumpy note, managed to shrink my perfect 'mini bump cover-up' jumper to size fit to 2year old. Aarrgghh. Bump comes, camouflage clothing goes. Peachy.

Enjoy it!!

I actually had nurses asking me if I was sure it was twins, when I checked in for my C-sec.

Mine were laying top/bottom, rather than side/side, and I think that made a difference in how much I was showing.

triplets · 08/07/2007 22:49

Hi,
I didnt really start showing until I was past 20 weeks and that was with triplets! Only put on 22 lbs too! They were born at 32 weeks and were 4lb 3oz, 4lb 7oz and 3lb, so dont worry!

MarsLady · 08/07/2007 22:52

congratulations and don't forget to join us on the d' ya ever wonder threads!

triplets · 08/07/2007 23:04

Hi Marslady, was wondering where you you all were, seems kinda quiet!

Egg · 09/07/2007 17:20

Blardy hell Triplets! 22lbs! I thought i did well with DS and I gained about 20lbs but he was a singleton.

Castanet, I am 10.5 weeks pg with twins and don't look at all pregnant, but do get a big bloated gut by late afternoon (am sitting with belt off and jeans undone). I have lost about 4lbs despite having no actual sickness. Still got 10 days til next scan at 12 weeks so hoping all is ok.

inamuckingfuddle · 09/07/2007 17:24

castanet I didn't really start to show til 16 wks plus with my 2, didn't put on masses of weight either, they were 4lb6 and 4lb2 at 35 wks (but all 3 of us have made up for the lack of weight gain since their birth ) so as others have said, don't worry too much

Castanet · 09/07/2007 22:45

Thanks everybody! Over 16weeks now and mini-bump appears to be ever so slightly bumpier, but only in the evnings. Noticed that I'm always holding my tummy in for some reason, guess as I've never had a belly so the bump makes me feel fat. How sad is that.... Out of curiosity let the muscles relax and lo and behold, there's a real bump. Of course had to immediately suck it back in again - only to face the fact that it's not really going away....
Oh well.

HI Castanet - I didnt show really until about 17 weeks with my DTs and they were both nearly 6lb each at 39.5 weeks when they were born. I am 5 foot 11 so blamed it on having a long body!

elsa07 · 17/07/2007 21:58

Hey! I'm seven months pregnant with twins and you can only tell that I'm pregnant if you either know, or look for it... I've been told that it's nothing to worry about, your size depends on how the babies are positioned, so I guess we're a couple of lucky ones who remain slim!
I'm also quite tall, and sporty (well, I was, I've cut down a bit now!) I wouldn't worry about it at all, so long as the babies are healthy...congratulations!

leprechaunlizzy · 17/07/2007 23:18

I started showing at 10 weeks, but was really small bump al the way through,in fact was shopping in safeway one day and the girl at the till asked was I pregnant,I said yes she says oh it looks like you have a football up your jumper,I say ah well must be two cos its twins, well she told the whole shop never so embarrassed and panicked cos she reckoned I was too small to be having twins, but all was fine, every mums body is different so keep safe, and eat what you like, congratulations x

Castanet · 18/07/2007 07:20

I wonder, does the worry ever ease up? Current reason for sleepless nights - upcoming 20wk scan. What if something is wrong? What if they are too small, not enough fluid, horrid defects etc.etc. All was well on nuchal scan but there are so many horror stories floating around the net...Driving myself & DP up the wall. Would like to be able to enjoy this time but ........
Hormonal rant over.
