separate rooms or not??????

looking for advice from fellow MB mums. We are moving house on Friday (aaaaaaagh!!! - I should be doing a million things rather than being on the computer!) and we have identical twins aged 2. My theory is that since a big reason for us moving is to put them in sparate rooms we should do it from day 1 as it is a change of environment anyway. My dear MinL is worried sick about them being split up and thinks it will all be too much for them. Obviously I am thinking of them and although they may be a bit funny I think it can only be a good thing for them to have their own space and time at bedtime etc. Does anyone have any experience or advice????

My two dd twins were in the same room whilst in cots (up to 18mths as they could then climb out!). But when they went into beds we put them in separate rooms as the kept each other awake. They love their own space now aged 5 and sometimes sleep together but they know if they want to be by themselves they have their own space. Can you give each his/her own room but not be too rigid about where they sleep?

I think if you've got the space, give them different rooms. See how it goes - like daisy said, they may decide themselves what they want!

I shared a room with my older sister then younger sister until I was 17!!!! Did me no harm of course!! but I would have loved to have had my very own space when I was growing up.

Came upon this thread quite by accident (I haven't got twins! ) but think I have something useful to add...

We have a 2-bedroom flat and are thinking of moving as we have a ds and a dd. Our HV advised us to move dd out of our bedroom into ds's room well before the move because, whenever it eventually happened, the move would be an enormous upheaval for the children and sleeping together in the new house would comfort them if it was what they were already used to from their old home. So my advice would be to keep your two sharing a room in the new house, and move one once everything has settled down. It would also mean that you have a extra room for a while.
