Double prams

My twins are 2 and a half now...and are very big for their age..the double pram i have is starting to buckle and is soooooo heavy to push....i really dread using it.

Just wondered if anyone else has switched to using a single buggy with a buggy board at this age?

They are too young to walk...well they would just constantly try to run off anyway....

Hi, I still use my double buggy (my twins are just over 2 and a half) and I try to avoid it as it is so heavy now!

I thought about a single plus buggyboard but I imagined it would give my twins another thing to argue about (its not a twin thing just an age thing I think but they desperately want to have precisely the same treatment at precisely the same time!) I think Kelly has done single plus buggyboard so hopefully she will be along to help.....in the meantime, I'll link this into the D'y ever thread where some others might have advice.

IMO, they are not too young to do it physically, its whether they will happily take turns that it the question.

I threw mine out of the buggy at 2.5yo. I just couldn't be arsed any longer. It's not been that bad (just people stopping me to tell me how bad it must be).

Wee bit painful at the beginning, but not bad at all in the end.

HI,

I've tried this, and it is ok for short distances, because they think it is a game, but not really a replacement for a double on longer trips. Mine are a bit younger than yours though, so you might have more luck. My constantly try to run off, and refuse to walk at all with reins, so I know what you mean. I've been without my double for a week as a wheel fell off and it has been a nightmare. I don't even have the single as it is at our aunts, so Ive had to drive everywhere.

Kelly-i have been driving everywhere too to avoid my double pram...lol and my car's gearbox is on the way out too and i am still choosing that over my double buggy!
They are goodish at walking-we went to teh zoo last week and they walked all the way without running off.
I usually walk to the school and back which takes about half an hour each way, the walk takes us through out 'main street' too so i usually do a bit of shopping each time too...and with having the other 4 kids aswell...i would be stopped even more by strange people...lol

I don't know..it's hard hard life

(just heard a store here that stocks mamas and papas is closing down so hopefully they will have a sale and could get a pliko cheap to try out for them )

How about just getting two strollers like the mothercare own or toys R us one and connect them together with buggy connectors?

I did that with my dd's but with a pram and a pushchair.

buggy connectors are crap. Only good for times like the airport when you really need them for a bit, but I wouldn't try to use them on a regular basis.

I've finally fixed mine Back to walking again tomorrow. What one do you have? I have an emmaljunga, so although it is heavy it still isn't unbearable to push yet.

Maclaren twin something or other. I sold my mothercare urban detour as i thought they were too big for it and needed the umbrella styly...how wrong was i. That was a dream to push.

Oh those are a nightmare, I bought one and sold it after about 3 weeks. I had a single urban detour, it was lvoely.

I loved my buggy connectors. Used them for months, hooked two m&p prams together, a m&P and a Mclaren, two mothercare prams all sorts.

I still have them just in case.

Gosh i would never have thought to that! However, it still wouldn't solve the problem of my 2 just being huge for their age and any pram(s) weighing a ton with them in. That is why i was thinking of a pliko...at least then there would be less 'pram'.

I have a P&T e3 now which is wonderful but alot to pay out when in 6 months time your little ones will be walking fine.

My dd was an obsconder at that age too but within a couple of months she was a different child.

Did any of you Urban Detour people have problems with a front wheel wobble? Mine wobbles every so often and I have to lift the handle to stop it. Sometimes it'll do it lots and sometimes it doesn't. Any thoughts??
