How to get through this pregnancy

I'm 28 weeks and I'm so tired I can barely move. Finishing work in two weeks and then will keep dd in nursery 3 days a week. If i do anything other than lie down, everything hurts. Can't see myself managing for another 6-10 weeks but also want to keep these babies in there as long as possible. Help.

It sucks! I hated the last few weeks and was in constant pain, so I know exactly where you are coming from.

My sister saw me at 28 weeks and told me how wonderful I looked. When she saw me again at 32 weeks her jaw dropped, I had ballooned and looked dreadful! I found it extremely hard from 32 weeks (at this point my bump was measuring 45 weeks) onward.

I found sitting with my fat swollen feet in ice water helped
Cold showers
Dh rubbing my feet and aching hips
Taking paracetamol around the clock (advised by my consultant)
Eating whatever I fancied

My babies were born at 34 weeks and spent 2 weeks in scbu. Good luck, I feel for you

At this point 3 years ago I was 29 weeks pregnant.

I'm 33 weeks and feel the same. Swollen, sweaty, stressed, uncomfortable. I'm sleeping in the spare room to try and sleep better. I just can't see how I'll go another 3.5 weeks until c-section booking. My swollen feet are killing me, I'm constantly out of breath, and diabetic so can't have comfort food. Whose idea was this?!

rest as much as possible, I was in pain from 20 weeks and by 30 weeks I just wanted to drag them out myself, the odd trip to the hairdressers or out for dinner with dp helped boost my mood for a few days! lasted til I was induced at 36+4

Oh kicked you're not alone. I'm 31+3 and I'm so sick of bloody whinging! It seems like it's all I do at the moment.
I've been signed off work sick for the last 2 weeks and have been sending my son to his childminder everyday so I can rest. (I'd still have to pay her anyway and he loves it there with the other children, but I still feel so guilty!)
I'm constantly in pain, I have awful SPD, reflux and the headaches I had earliest on in the pregnancy have returned with a vengeance.
DH is being most unhelpful, he can't understand what's wrong with me this time round when I coped so well when I was pregnant with DS (I was still working until 38+ weeks and going for long walks to try and bring labour on at 42 weeks!), and doesn't seem to think that growing 2 people is an excuse for feeling like shit.
The kicking/squirming is becoming unbearable. My skin feels like it's tearing every time they move. The pressure on my bladder and lungs is causing all sorts of uncomfortable problems too!
I'm so grateful for this board so we can vent to others who know how it feels!

It's really tough going but you're very nearly there! You will feel immediate, immense relief when those twins are born.

I had a terrible stomach bug at 32 weeks and was sobbing to the doctor that I just wanted the babies out of me!

Rest as much as you can, get as much help with your toddler as you can and don't worry, you will get there

From about 28 weeks on I was knackered. Really knackered. All of a sudden I couldn't the things I could a week ago, like longish walks and days out. Stairs killed me!

I spent as much of that time sitting at almost full stretch in recliner chair, with my arms straight up over my head as that was the only way I could comfortably breathe! I couldn't eat a lot either, so drank a lot of protein shakes.

I remember a doctor telling me when I was pregnant that being pregnant with multiple babies uses the equivalent amount of energy as running a marathon. And it definitely feels like it!

Definitely rest as much as you can. I could hardly walk from 31 weeks, couldn't sit in the car and had to lie in weird positions to ease the pressure on my lungs.

It does feel so much better as soon as they're born.

Oh, heavens, I'm feeling awful as well and I'm only 25 weeks. My hips and back are so sore and I'm waking in the night with terrible pain. My husband has taken to calling me the Princess and the Pea because I have a duvet under the sheet for extra cushioning, plus a U pillow, plus a wedge pillow and two regular pillows.

I'm a teacher so I'm on school holidays at the moment, but I'm starting back in a week and a half and I simply don't know how I'm going to cope. I'm planning to work until I'm 33 weeks, which is October half term, so I'll have seven weeks. In good moments, I think I might be okay, but in bad moments I want to cry. It hurts to sit for too long, so I don't know how I'll get my marking done, and it hurts to stand and walk, so I don't know how I'll do the rest of it. Over the past couple of weeks, I've realised that I'm limited to about two hours out of the house before I need the sofa again. Any tips for surviving work?

I wouldn't count on being able to work up to 33 weeks, the biggest thing I found with multiple pregnancy was the unpredictability of it all.

I'm lucky that I have a very flexible job as towards the end I had around 4 hospital appointments a week.

Get a full body pillow to take some of the pressure off at night.

titus, I had that dreadful hip pain in my first pregnancy (although curiously not in my twin one) and found using the Dream Genii pillow gave me relief.

I'm a teacher as well and I worked until 30 weeks when a bout of 'flu, which I've never had in my life, floored me totally and I just had to stop.

Your doctors will be more than happy to sign you off work in the next few weeks I'd say - mine would have signed me off from about 22 weeks when they heard I was a teacher!
