Hi,
Went for a my 12 week scan last week and was told that it looked as if my placentas had fused and I've now got one big one!
Anyone else had any experience of this?
Is there any added risk?
I am quite concerned about what complications this could cause since my placenta didn't detach during my first labour and I had to have it manually removed which caused a massive hemorrhage.
Dr Google had no advice.
TIA. X

My dcda twins were born with a fused placenta. No concerns or worries were expressed to me during my pregnancy. It was a whopping 5.5 pounds at delivery!

Good Lord!! That's like another baby! Grin

Oh I'm glad about that, the sonographer and consultant I spoke to last week didn't seem at all concerned and there were so many other things I remembered that I didn't ask at my first appointment that I totally forgot to question them on it at the time.

Fused placentas should be fine hence the lack of concern. although rare twin to twin transfusion can happen. Do not google it but just check that your consultant is checking for it.
