Hello,

I'm 19 weeks pregnant with DCDA twins and I also have 2 other children.

I would like to hear experiences from any ladies who have had their twins naturally i.e, vaginal birth with no epidural, ventouse or forceps. This could of been through choice or babies came quickly.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Are you on FB? There's a group called Twin Support UK where several members have had natural deliveries - might be worth hopping over there to ask?

I had a vaginal delivery with an epidural; twin 1 was forceps, twin 2 needed a bit of manoeuvring as her arm was above her head. That all sounds a bit scary but actually it went really well, I felt safe and reassured throughout and the medical team were astoundingly good. My recovery went very well - I was feeling fine within two or three days. (Just to reassure you that medical intervention isn't the terrifying prospect many worry it could be).

I had my twins naturally at 36 weeks, with twin 2 being breach.

I was very nervous beforehand but everything went smoothly, labouring for about 3.5 hours with 15 mins between the two of them.

Both babes went straight to the ward with me with 24 hours in a 'hot cot' which is standard procedure for babes born before 37 weeks in my local hospital, and home after 3 days.

They were my 2nd pregnancy.

BloomingOrBallooning, did you opt for no epidural and if so did the midwives, consultants or registar advise/pressure you too? Thanks.

I didn't have an epidural. I didn't really want to have one, but would have if it was recommended by the midwives. However, my midwife was an old battle axe who told me I could do without, she even took the gas and air away from me when it was time to push bitch Smile

Congratulations by the way

I had my babies naturally, I think the midwife didn't believe me when I told her they were coming, one was born in the corridor and the next 15 mins later. I had been told I would have an epidural due to twin 2 being sideways But there was no time, he was a bit distressed so they broke his waters and told me to push. It was an extremely fast labour but easy, didn't really notice any contractions etc between babies. I have an older child too. Congratulations!!
