Finding it so hard!

Think I'm just having a difficult weekend..but my twins have just turned 1 and we have a 3.5 year old. Feel like all the twins do is whine and moan-if others are around (guests) they're fine but they seem to play up for me in particular (even refusing to eat if I'm sitting with them) which means that it's constant and it's really getting me down. My DH finds it all to stressful and is really getting at me and won't go on activities out (even though this makes all 3 happy) as he cant cope with the stress, preparation etc today me and him haven't stopped fighting :(..also the tidying up is relentless even though we have loads of help! It feels a bit like we have nothing to look forward to and I thought things were supposed to get easier at 1! Sorry for the moan, just feeling the strain!

I used to chuck food on my twins trays then leave the room as they'd just crack on if I wasn't there. Felt bad as you're supposed to do the sitting together as a family thing but it just became a battle.
It does get easier. Mine are now 3.5 and my eldest is 7 and I can take all 3 out in my own and enjoy it! Do you have a local twins club? It's so hard for people without multiples to really understand. I have a lovely friend who often tells me her 3 yo is such a handful its just like having twins! I smile... It's not the same at all!
I bet you are doing brilliantly. It's okay to find twins hard. Small children are hard work so 2 the same age is tough. Keep surviving and one day you will realise it's got easier. Pm me if you want to vent. I've been there. Xx

Thanks motherofdragons. Weekends are always harder because no nursery, baby groups! I haven't been to the twin groups yet but will start..I know it's a good idea! Thanks v much for your support looking forward to them turning 2 now although I know that brings its own challenges!

I have found the weekends have really dragged over the winter. We all get grumpy if we don't get out, but it is really hard finding suitable things to do and getting everyone wrapped up and out the door does feel like a too much of a mission sometimes. The weather is on the turn though and hopefully will soon be much easier to get out and about!

I'm in the same situation at the moment OP. People have told me that the year between 1 and 2 is the nicest but IME so far (they are only 14 months!) it's bloody hard work. I can't let them play on their own for so much as two minutes before one snatches a toy off the other, or bites, or pushes the other over. If I hear one more time how it must be getting easier for me now because they can play together I think I'll scream! Going to a twins group if you can is definitely a good idea, it's nice to speak to other parents of multiples who understand what you're going through.

IME 1-2 was the hardest by miles. Now at 4 they play lovely together for ages with no fighting hardly ever. When anyone asks about how hard having newborn twins was I will always tell them 1-2 was much harder. After 2, every year gets easier and more enjoyable.
