twins (or more) rollcall

Someone suggested if on the D'ya ever wonder how life still carried on like this? thread - so I thought I would start the ball rolling in an idle moment.

I have 3.75 year old id twin boys, and a 5.25 DS1 as well.

Live in rural Norfolk, work part-time in computer support. DH works part-time as a research scientist, and spends the rest of his time looking after the boys and building an extension.

Life is hectic - but pretty good at the moment. Twins are a real challenge - but a total privilege and fascinating.

Yes they're twins, yes one's bigger than the other, one's a boy and one's a girl, no they're not identical...
Live in King's Cross in London. Anyone else nearby? On the Coram's circuit?

mummacool29 · 06/09/2007 09:33

Anybody else got fussy eater twins who back each other up on the not trying anything new front? I would be very grateful for any advise.

Have enjoyed reading the stream. Twins and multiple parenthood can be quite isolating in some ways.

reevie · 15/09/2007 20:56

Hello All, thought I'd be allowed to just sneak in and take a peak at the lives of some of you mothers of many. Fairly enough, I've had to enter all my own info. Must admit I've no idea what all those DP, DH abbreviations mean. I thought this seemed a good way to link up with other mothers of twins as I really haven't found the time to join a 'twin group' or anything. I'd really like to know what some of you find especially brilliant or, more realistically, especially difficult about having twins. I may not be a very reliable correspondant as I'm usually fighting to keep my eyes open afterabout 8.30. Rock n roll, eh? Look forward to sharing trials and tribulations with some of you, Anna.

Hi Reevie, I am also one who is "early to bed". At the top of the page, to the right of "useful stuff" is a link called "acronym list". It will explain all about the abbreviations .

reevie · 18/09/2007 21:13

Thanks for the tip Egg, I shall try and remember at least three of those acronyms. Does anyone else face the following scenario on a regular basis? (Must be even worse for you Triplets). You're dashing round the supermarket with about 7 minutes to finish your shop and hot foot it to the nursery (to be faced by my two yr old staring accusingly at me from the carpet where she is, yet again the last to be collected). the fifteenth person of the day blocks your path, then this standard conversation ensues: "Are they twins?" "Yes, a boy and a girl" "OO, Double Trouble hee, hee, hee" (I give tolerant smie as if they are the first person to treat me to such a witty remark). Soon to be followed by "are they identical?" Me "Erm...No, they're a boy and a girl" Them "Do they have to be the same sex to be identical then?"
Is it just me or is it not blindingly obvious? Shouldn't grumble though, people are generally really nice to me when they realise I'm not taking up all the room on the bus with a double buggy because I haven't heard of birth control and that I've just been blessed with twins. Lordy, it's past nine o'clock and I'm not in pyjamas yet. Going to regret finding this site.

Egg · 20/09/2007 08:31

Hi Reevie, now that is a question for the "d'ya ever... thread" which is where the multiple ladies do most of their day to day chat and advice etc.

Have posted the link here. Pop over and paste your question in to them there and there will undoubtedly be a resounding response where everyone agrees (don't have that experience yet, mine are not out yet, but I found out yesterday I am having a BOY AND A GIRL so I will get it in four months!!!).

See you over there!

fryalot · 20/09/2007 08:36
Egg · 20/09/2007 08:46

Morning Squonky! Perhaps you popping over here is a sign and you will join us properly one day .

Still trying to get DS to nursery, but we are still in pj's . He wanted to watch "La La" so have had to endure the same blooming episode of Tubbies again (we have a v limited amount on Sky+ and have watched them all a gazillion times).

Right, really must get on. See you over on Zappata thread Squonk.

TripletEm · 24/09/2007 21:47

BibiThree · 20/10/2007 20:10

I'm a twin Mum too

Me 28
Dh 32
Dd 3 (last week)
Dt1 14 weeks
Dt2 14 weeks (obviously)

Live in South Wales, just outside Cardiff, hoping the finances will allow me to become a sahm when my maternity leave is over next July.
Am v v lucky as dd is an angel and the little ones are pretty good - as good as 3 months olds can be.
The girls are "identical", although the youngest is roughly a pound heavier so it's not too hear to tell the difference at the moment.
It is as difficult as everyone said it would be, but it's a joy in equal measure!

twinsandra · 28/10/2007 19:58

I'm Sandra a twin mum from East Dulwich, London

Me 24
DP 22
DS 5 months
DD 5 months

On maternity leave until Feb then I go back to being a practice manager at a GP surgery.
