Someone suggested if on the D'ya ever wonder how life still carried on like this? thread - so I thought I would start the ball rolling in an idle moment.

I have 3.75 year old id twin boys, and a 5.25 DS1 as well.

Live in rural Norfolk, work part-time in computer support. DH works part-time as a research scientist, and spends the rest of his time looking after the boys and building an extension.

Life is hectic - but pretty good at the moment. Twins are a real challenge - but a total privilege and fascinating.

DTs - 23 months old tomorrow!
Baby no. 3 due 24/11/06

We live in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

I work part time managing a Customer SErvice Department of 12 staff.

DH used to work at the same place as me as my boss - he was the Ops Director and it was great as he was home every night but he has recently left and now works for Ernst and YOung in their consultancy division. This is his first week and he has a London base so will be away a lot from now on....so will need some of my buddies on here to keep my spirits up - esp the ones whose DHs are also weekends only!

sandyballs · 12/10/2006 11:46

Big surprise as no twins in family that we know of but they've been a lot of fun and a lot of hard work.

mozhe - how on earth do you manage ?? i have dd 7 and 2 and work 4 days and struggle ( cannot have anymore due to hysterectomy during second delivery due to unstoppable haemorraghing) but would like a puppy ( i know baby substitute) but not sure can cope with more dependents , i am in awe .....

mozhe · 12/10/2006 19:16

mummydoc.....don't be in awe but I have just always ' done it ', one bit at a time and take one day,( or night ! ), at a time. I think we might be in the same profession ? And it helps to be an insomniac if you choose that line of work.....

Flamebat · 12/10/2006 19:20

If JuA pops up on here can you ask her to get her arse over to Feb mums with an update please

CatJ - I've met your DTs - I'd say you'd have had your hands full with just one of em, let alone both!!!!

KellyKrueger1978 · 12/10/2006 19:25

juA has posted on the dya ever wonder... multiples thread recently, maybe yesterday?

waterfalls · 12/10/2006 19:30

DH - 30 works too much (2jobs)

ds- 5.8 yrs (SN)

Live in a crappy coucil estate in Worcestershire

Flamebat · 12/10/2006 19:31

Ooh will stalk her there then

whooOOOoooOOOpsfallenoveragain · 12/10/2006 19:34

Flame - I'd swap Catj's twins for my ds anyday!! (not sure she'd feel the same though!!)

Flamebat · 12/10/2006 19:47

Not met your DS!!! Met the twins the day one was throwing herself off a slide, whilst the other was trying some bodily harm to herself off in another direction... I could see far too much of DD in them, and I wouldn't wish two of her on anyone!!!

devondoris · 12/10/2006 21:23

Think I should change my nickname to "Still here".

Anyway, me 34 (though 35 in November!)
DH 35 (ha!)
DD 4 in 2 weeks (I have a birthday party on 21st...)
DTs (boys) due Sunday (40 weeks)
Cat recently relocated to mum's cos he loves her more than me.

Live in Bovey Tracey on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon.

Used to be a marketer when in London, but gave it up to move back to Devon 5 years ago, leaving DH behind during the week. Got pg almost immediately, started a secretarial services business (one woman band type), then a gardening maintenance business and last year started posh curtain making too. Was just beginning to make a bit of personal cash when got pg with DTs (don't know if id or not yet), who should be coming out NOW!!! DH and I also bought a healthfood shop in April, so that he could move down and have his own business. Until Christmas he's an aeronautical engineer in SW London (did a PhD in rocket science, which didn't impress me much , sorry couldn't resist!).

How do I manage to write so much even when the subject isn't a big one???

mummydoc · 13/10/2006 14:51

mozhe - i am gp now used to be a+e doc , loved it but couldn't cope with shifts and babies etc. i like life realtively well controlled but off to buy puppy so life will get more chaotic i should imagine...

jambuttie · 13/10/2006 14:57

ds1 4.5
dtboys 2.5

in Livingston west lothian

earlysbird · 13/10/2006 17:31

you're brave mummydoc! we were given a puppy when dds were about 18 months, my sister's labrador had a large litter so she 'kindly' gave one to the girls...I hadn't really realised how much hard work they are - think I'm a cat person at a heart!

throckenholt · 13/10/2006 17:49

puppies are just like children - but with the advantage that they go through the stages more quickly - by 2 years they are pretty much mature and fine to have around !

mozhe · 14/10/2006 00:28

Hi mummydoc I'm in psychiatry.....but left babies until I'd made consultant then ' went for it' in a big way.I've been lucky, I'll be the first to admit it was a huge gamble, but despite being a late starter it seems to have gone very easily.I took between 4-8 weeks off completely with each pregnancy, and then eased myself back in to full time by the time babies were 3 months.I've had a wonderful nanny over the last 5.5 years, I couldn't have done it witout her.I'd still love one more...but maybe even I'll have to settle for ,( another, we already have one !), a puppy !

glamourbadger · 14/10/2006 12:52

DTs - identical girls, 6 months (one becoming a big fat baby, the other a very little lady)

Live in North London, DH is a lawyer and I'm a web designer trying to avoid thinking about going back to work (fingers in ears, la la la...)

I hated having twins at first, had a bad case of singleton envy but have slowly moved to a joyful sort of twin superiority! Still suffering from a mild dose of small buggy envy as I push my giant buggy (akin to a skip) around a park full of nifty little Bugaboos...

maggiems · 15/10/2006 13:01
