Having a third. Experiences please.

I would really like to hear from mums who have twins and another child as well. I have b/g twins and my DH and I would really like another in the future. Can someone who has been there and done that tell me the reality of it? Does it make life a lot harder or are some things easier as you have already faced two babies at once? Also, there's always that niggling thought at the back of my mind that we could end up with twins again...

Following! We want to try for another one soon (in the next 6 months or so), and I'm very interested in this. Can people also say how far apart their twins were from their 3rd? Is two years too close of a gap?

I have 29 months between my twins and singleton. It's a lovely age gap. I found the first year easy and things have got progressively more difficult as my dd has grown more demanding. I have found her very different to my DTs. I loved having twins, but I loved having a singleton too. It's a very different experience. Be prepared from shock from other people though. I think a lot of people were surprised when I said I was pregnant! Not as surprised as they will be next time though. Ha ha.

I already had two DC when my twins arrived so I can't say what it is actually like to have twins first and then a single baby.

But, I imagine that it must feel SO much easier!! I think twins are massively harder to deal with compared to a single baby, much more than I would ever have imagined..

One baby is just so portable. You can put it in a sling and have your hands free, just carry it on your hip, or in a single buggy that doesn't take up much room. It doesn't take long to feed, it is easy to settle one by cuddling it, when there isn't another one screaming to be picked up at the same time.

I love my twins, but I do look back on the early days with my single babies and remember how lovely it was. That isn't just nostalgia talking either, I really enjoyed it at the time. The bonding that you have in the early days is lovely as you are really able to focus on your baby during feeds etc.

I don't know about the risk of having twins again though...at least you would be prepared

The fear of having twin again is stopping us from trying again. I love my twins but I don't want another set.

I also felt like I missed out by not having one baby, you don't get to bond as much in the early days when you have twins. The early days months are all about survival.

No advice but I do find people's responses interesting.

That's pretty positive so far! Thanks everyone. I know what you mean redspottydress we have had so many 'that's nice. You are all done in one go' comments from family/friends! I just nod and smile at the moment. They will see! :)

neversleepagain I think your point about bonding is interesting. I sometimes wonder if I would have a different relationship with mine if I had had them as single babies but as I have only got them I don't know what the bonding would be like/if it would be different with a single baby.
